I recently purchased a box full of rather old stamp sets from a woman whose husband is very ill and she is no longer able to stamp. Several of these sets are in SU boxes, but do not have labels on them. As a demo I cannot utilize these sets, so I thought I would try to sell them. I only have catalogs dating back to 2002 so I don't know what some of these sets are titles or how much they cost.
I was hoping someone might have an idea of what the sets titles are and how much they sold for so I can ask a fair price. If you can assist me with this I would greatly appreciate it. I will post pictures of the sets.
The set with the large gloved hand is called Gifted Glove. It had more stamps than what you have in the photo - in fact, one of the stamps that goes with Gifted Glove is the small scarcrow that looks like he's in a bush. It was a multi-piece, interchangeable set where you stamped the glove and then changed the top for the season. As I'm typing this I'm not able to view the photo, so I may be in error, but there should be a Christmas oriented stamp with this if it's not there. I'll go check my set and let you know how many were in it originally - also will grab an old catty and check the price.
The one with the 4 really tall blocks is called Not So Short Notes, dated 1997 but I couldn't find it in that catty. It showed up in the 1998 catty for 19.95, wood mount.

Well there were originally five stamps in this box, but I found one that did not belong, so I thought there were four. Thanks for all this info I really do appreciate it.
You know I thought I was doing something nice for someone and it made me feel good to help her out. Unfortunately for me I see now that a lot of these sets are incomplete. She never said they were missing stamps and she knew I wasn't familiar with all these sets since they were so old. Oh well.
For some reason the thumbnails aren't showing up!!! The set I'm referring to is the border stamp set with sewing theme - it's called Patchwork borders, dated 1998, $20.50

The set with the turkey and the pilgrims and 2 sentiments is called Thanks Be To Thee, dated 1998, $14.95
The Gifted Glove set I mentioned in an earlier post was a set of 5 - so if you pull that little scarecrow guy from the other grouping you will have a complete set. It originally was a hostess set in 1997 and showed up in the 1998 catty priced at $19.95
The other fall themed set is called Happy Harvest, set of 4, 1997, wood mount priced at $13.95
That's all of the one's I recognized, hope this helps!

Thanks again.
I think that most of your sets are complete, they just might not be matched up correctly, if that makes sense! I'm sure someone else will come up with the remaining names. By the way, I suspect that the single floral stamp with the violets was sold as a single stamp. In those days they did sell a few designs that way because they bought their designs from several places.

Inspirational Greetings is the sentiment set, 8 in the set, wood mount was $19.95 , 1998 catalog All the ones I can read in your photo are in the catalog, so I'm sure that's a complete set.
The 4 block set that has the flowers in the pocket, flowers in a patchwork flower pot and the other two patchy designs is called For You, 1998 catalog, $9.95
Whew! Those old cattys are a bear to look through because there is no index and seemingly no organization as to where a style of stamp will appear in the catalog. SU has come a long way in their catalog design!!!!
I had some old sets and a couple bags of mismatched stamps from a thrift store. I searched ebay using "Stampin Up" and the year on the stamp. I was able to find all but one of the sets. By using the advanced search option you can search completed auctions only and see what they have sold for in the last month or so. Keep in mind that July & August are usually slower months on ebay. It's a good time to buy for bargains but not really a good time to sell for the best price.

What do you think a good time to sell on ebay is? I just did a major weeding of my stamps...
I'm not the expert on ebay as I haven't actively sold in several years except on Half.com, but a message board I used to be active on thought avoiding late summer (vacations, people more active outside away from computers, etc.) was better for general items. Sales and prices seemed to pick up in late September and stay steady through the holidays and early winter months.
I personally do a lot of ebay shopping during the summer and feel like I can get better deals but maybe that's just me. :p
