Just a suggestion (please don't take this the wrong way, because I don't mean to take away from the significance of the military aspect of the wedding, but......)
I was wondering if the military "look" of the invitations might take away from the romance of the wedding. We had a military wedding, but I wanted to "balance" it out with NOT making the invitation look like an invitation to a military function. We stayed with the blue and silver (Air Force colors), but we had embossed flowers on our invitation. The wording on the invitation alluded that it *was* a military wedding (it had my then-fiancee's rank e.g. Captain so-and-so, United States Air Force......)
Otherwise, we didn't want to emphasize that it was supposed to be viewed just a "military event."
There will be occassions in this couple's life in the military where other invitations might be sent out (invitations to promotion ceremonies, etc.) Those, I can see, using Marine insignia or symbols/emblems. But, for a wedding.......I find it a little too much to put a Marine-in-uniform on the invitation, itself. It may come across as "stoic" rather than celebrating the romance of a wedding celebration.
On a side note, on our cake, we found Precious Moments figurines of an Air Force airman and a civilian bride. It was cute, and it showed that we were now a "military couple."
