I am looking into getting the SU markers.. I went to Michaels and Joann to see what selection they had and non seem very juicy.. I used the SU ones once and they seemed to color quickly and with alot of moisture.. BUT they are costly.. any comparisons to Marvy, Zig or the others.. Zig is $119 as well but 40% off at Joannes so its a bit cheaper.. I am planning on getting all the monograms next month for the background stamp special and was thinking of using my hostess credit to offset the marker costs but wasnt sure.. I would use them a ton so I dont want them to dry out.. I have some from scrappin so I hesitate to plop down $120 if they dry out or there are cheaper ones that work fine.. Any thoughts? I am not too concerned with the color matching since I use Bazzill cardstock quite a bit as well as SU - I just want the juiciest ones..
I first bought others (Marvy,Zig) & after about a year had to throw a lot of them out & what I have left are 'ok'. I've had the SU markers for at least 2 yrs & they are still as 'juicy' as they were the day I got them. Love them!

Quality art markers are going to cost you in the $2-$3 range apiece, and the SU! markers come out to $2.50 each if you get the full set at once. The AD Chartpak markers I had to buy for my rendering class last summer cost almost $3 each, and there were nearly 50 colors on the materials list.

I have some Marvy markers, I have some Zig markers, I also have some SU markers, and I can tell you that the SU markers start out FAR juicer than any of the other brands I've tried! That said, I've only had mine for a couple of months, but IMHO they are FAR FAR superior to any other brand I've tried. Well worth the money spent!
I have 4 sets of Zig markers that I have had for more than 4 years. They are all still juicy. The tips are all still firm.
What it really boils down to is whether you want to have markers that match SU colors exactly or not. That's really the only difference. Except price, that is.

I have the markers and really like them a lot. If you are using SU paper and ink, then the markers coordinate. they come in a great box, are double tipped, and mine are juicy. If SU sells a product that I don't like myself, I wouldn't recommend it just because I'm a demo.
ps. you are getting ALL the monograms??!! Can I come over and play?

When I first started stamping, I bought the Marvy Markers, one set at a time, at Michael's, with coupons. I used them for a while, but I wanted the colors to match my SU papers and ink. I bought the whole case about 2 1/2 years ago, I think. I use them to sign the backs of my cards in matching colors, and to color on stamps when I want different colors. I wouldn't say that I've used them a ton, but they seem fine. I am glad that they are there when I need them! I am in the process of getting markers in all of the new colors now. I gave my Marvy Markers to my daughter.
3.5 years and still going strong. I did notice, however, that the new style that I got with the newer colors appear to be a bit different. I can't quite put my finger on it, but they have a different feel, still very juicy though.
As with all double sided markers just be sure keep them on their sides to keep the ink evenly distributed.
Just another thought with the SU markers if you did have one dry out you could purchase the reinker and rejuvinate it. The ones I have which are older ones and they are nice and juicy.
About those re-inkers: how would you do that? I know I read a thread here at one time. Someone thought you could pry off the tip. Someone else said to let the brush tip sit in some re-inker. Does anyone know for sure?
I've had my SU! ones since April of '02. Still fabulously juicy and tips have held their shape. I'm meticulous about leaving them on their sides though so that the ink doesn't pool to one end or the other.

Almost three years and all are doing great! I have a few that don't work on the pen side, but that doesn't effect me since I only use the brush side. Couldn't stamp without them. I need all my 48 colors!

you could probably just hold the reinker bottle right up to the brush tip and squeeze some on. If the marker was dry I would think it would wick up the ink pretty well. But I haven't done it myself so I wouldn't actually know.
Definelty get the SU! Markers, cause the cooridinate and can be reinked. I have reinked, my Mellow Moss, all you do, is with your fingers gently pull the nib out and then put 2 or 3 drops in the resevoir, and voila nice juicy marker again! Very easy!
I absolutely love my SU markers! They are my favorite accessory. I think they are an excellent quality and well worth the money. I bought mine 4 years ago and even my favorites color are still plenty juicy. Although I'm not a demo, so I'm they only one using them. Plus I like the idea that they are sold individually if I ever did need to replace one. Also, I always store mine flat rather then on end, so both ends stay moist.
