SO if my SU stamps have never gone on the wooden blocks, I put them on the easy mount and cut them out, then for storage everyone says use CD cases. But how? What am I missing when I envision that circle thing where the CD goes? How do you get the stamps in the CD case? what do you adhere them to?
Can someone please give me some step by step directions.
I love my acrylic stamps and the ease of placement.
Take out the inside of the Cd cases (the round circle thing) and the plastic tabs on the inside edges. Now you have two flat surfaces. Yes there will be a gap on top by the hinge side. Now put your stamps cling side to the plastic and it will stick. Hopes this helps.

That circle thing where a cd goes... come out.
And then you can place your unmounted Stamps inside the case.
I have posted two photo below. On how the CD cases look without the insert.
And how I use my insert for my ribbon.

Here is a silly question...where does one purchase empty CD cases? Office Max, Staples, etc.? Do they sell a set of 12 or do you purchase individually?

I don't mount mine to cling, just use doublestick tape and keep them in the CD cases... they still stamp well without a pad for me.
I have trouble finding the normal size cases, I'll have to try a few on your lists.
I don't take out the half circle tabs on my CD cases. I stamp the images on a 4-3/4" x 4-3/4" square piece of cardstock and slide that into the lid. I also print out a label for the end as well.

My dh got them at CompUSA- $16 for a pack of 50. Then he had to take all the inserts out- I almost broke it trying to get it out. I've used Aileen's Tack it over and over- and it's done great so far. I think I'll use my sets more now- I had 3 bins full of the wood mount, so I didn't see them all the time. Now w/the cd cases, I can keep them in 1 bin - I'm a happy camper!
I've read quite a bit about "unmounting" and still haven't done it. What if I attached some cling or ez mount and then wanted to go back to the wood mounted. Is the cling or ez mount easy to remove and how would I "remount" to wood?
Thanks!
I just wanted to make sure that you are removing the old foam off of the rubber prior to putting the new EZ mount foam on, correct? Just checking.
Pop the center out of your standard size (not slimline) cd case at the hinge. you can also break off the half moons in the case if you need a touch more width in the case.
I hadn't intended on removing anything from anything. My SU stamps are new currently not mounted. I thought I could just remove the label covering the sticky side and put it on the ez mount, and then the easy mount would stick to the acrylic block. Am I missing a step?
My DH has the slimline CD cases at home, so the bottom piece is all in one, I need to get other ones.
you cannot mount on EZMount if you are leaving the foam on your rubber...you will have double thickness foam if you do that....you can use window cling on the foam if you want to leave the original foam on the rubber....or you can take the rubber off the foam and put the rubber on EZMount...your choice..

Sunday internation has come out with some new Ez-mount foam that is thinner and would work great for those of you that have SU stamps.
I bought *200* empty cd cases, without the insert, for $38. That price includes the shipping I paid. The list price is $26.60. Even with the shipping, I think you can see that it's a bargain compared to the others.

Cornishheritagefarms sells the acrylic blocks in a 4"x6" size that works perfectly for the background stamps. They also sell unmounted background stamps that stamp beautifully.

1) Double mounting foam (unless you are using the super thin EZ Mount that is now available) might make your stamp kind of wobbly. Or it might not. LOL I've never double mounted.
2) Window cling can be purchased at Michael's. It's called Graffix.
3) Separating the red rubber from the foam is super easy. Just start peeling it off! Sometimes there's a bit of adhesive stuck on the rubber. This can be kind of rolled off. I haven't run into any problems with this. The new sets really peel apart easily.

Does the window cling work as well as ez-mount? I have about 5 brand new SU sets that I haven't mounted yet. I've umounted many of my non-SU stamps and put them on ez-cling and into CD cases, it works wonderfully. But if I could save a step and put all my new unmounted SU stamps onto window cling, that would save a step. But if it's not very good, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing.
btw, I bought my CD cases from Staples. 24 pack for $6.99. I got them the NEXT day!! I've seen them at Walmart for about $3.50 for 10.
You can buy "CD Calendar" cases which are a lot nicer than the regular CD cases. The best thing I've noted is that there isn't a space between the two pieces so you don't have to worry about rubber falling out, or the lid pressing *squeezing* on the rubber.
WINDOW CLING- I just removed the window cling from some of the stamps I put it on. (I was trying many UM options to see which I liked best) I think I might have mounted some backwards, as they didn't stick at all. Here's another thread on window cling vs. EZ mount Forums at Splitcoaststampers
ANOTHER CUSHION ON OPTION- I've just been sticking the new stamps to my hand a few times to reduce the tackiness, then temp adhering to my clear block, then peeling it off and putting the wax peel thing back on before putting it into my cd case. The other thing I've been doing is putting the index sticker on the foam and using double stick tape to adhere to a block. This is really handy with the sentiment stamps as I have trouble reading which stamp it is from looking at the rubber side. I figure I can always change up and add the EZ mount/cling stuff later if I want to, by peeling the rubber off the SU cushion, and adding the EZ mount.
NO CUSHION OPTION- Some people dont even use cushion, just put the rubber on a block with DST or poster tape, then put a cushion under their work (mouse pad or magazine). I have done this with tiny word stamps that were rocking too much with a cushion. As long as the rubber is deeply etched and trimmed you might not even notice a difference. I cannot personally attest to the success of this on a larger scale, but I know others that do.
WHERE TO PURCHASE EZ MOUNT- Cornish Heritage Farms (online store) carries cling mount, and has free shipping $25+. They have great stamps too ;). TAC has some to, as does Sunday Intl (already mentioned)
DOUBLE FOAM- 1) might make your stamp wobbly. Might be ok on the large stamps, but words or other small ones might be unstable. The new thin mount from Sunday Intl is one answer to this problem. (I think someone already posted the link). 2) And it takes up more room (one of the reasons for unmounting in the first place. I store mine in standard size CD cases with the center popped out- double foam would be too thick. Not sure about the thickness of the thin mount and SU cushion, I'd like to hear from someone who'd tried that before claiming it would fit in the CD case.

In my opinion Window does NOT work as good as the Ez-mount foam does.
I had a couple of Stamps that I put the window cling and it has already failed me.
I've cleaned it and still doesn't cling as good as it first did....
The window cling is like those things we put up in our windows for holiday time... You know what I'm talking about.
If you want to use foam on your unmounted rubber stamps I would go with the Ez-mount foam.... It's the best!!!
And for any TAC demo that is going to correct me.....Creative Cling is the Same thing as Ez-mount foam.
And then you can place your unmounted Stamps inside the case.
I have posted two photo below. On how the CD cases look without the insert.

Hi Can you email me your photo on using the ribbon? Thanks Lisa [email protected]

I'll do my best to describe the pic-
she popped out the middle of the cd case, then used that to wrap the ribbon around it. there is room for about 4-5 different kinds of ribbon wrapped around each hard plastic piece.
Check out my gallery for examples of how you can index your stamps prior to mounting them on the EZ Mount stuff. I also have pictures of how I leave the half circle tabs intact on the lid of the CD case for a square label that has the stamped images displayed.
(Once a stamp is mounted on EZ Mount, the only way to index on the cling side would be to find someone else who owns that set and then use their set to stamp on the cling.)

I'm so glad your happy with it. Thanks for reporting back.
Somewhere in this thread you asked about the background stamps- I havent unmounted the ones that I have. But I may not mount any future ones that I get. I lay them on the desk and put my paper on top and rub with my hand, so it wouldnt matter if they were on a block or not. If I continue to run out of room, I suppose I'll UM the backgrounds too.
They do have bigger blocks but I havent looked for them- maybe at Sunday Int'l, or Cornish Heritage Farms. Or, you could maybe adhere something to one of your wood blocks to make it slick so the EZ mount would stick? Just thinking aloud here. holler if you need some more ideas for UM backgrounds.

You are brilliant, I love that idea to stamp on the cling, brilliant, does it have to be staz on or will brilliance ink work?
Those pictures help so much.
