Question Mounting Heartfelt Thanks

Good Evening:

I just opened my kit (very excited and apprehensive at the same time) and am in the process of mounting the stamps. I am trying to mount the single five petal flower and outline stamps in Heartfelt Thanks. I have stamped several flowers (base) and then tried stamping the outline. When I stamped the outline, some positions seem totally off, and then in others, it seems as though I have to stamp the outline at an angle. How do I know if/when my stamps are positioned properly? Should I position one or the other acording to how I stamp or stick to the label? I would appreciate any hints, as I want to master this technique.

Thanks.
Sheryl

Sheryl, I am NOT an expert by ANY means...just a beginning stamper! But I position my stamps according to the sticker/label. I put the label on the wood block first and then mount the rubber stamp part. I check to make sure the rubber stamp matches the sticker/label by stamping on a corner of a paper and comparing my stamped image to the label on the wood block by marking where certain spots are on the label before I lift up the stamp. Sometimes I need to adjust my rubber stamp part, and can remove and reposition it fairly easily if it's not on the wood block too long. I also heard that the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig helps when doing two-step stamping. Hope that helps!

Thanks GoodImpressions for responding! I like the part about testing your stamped image before permanent adhering the rubber. I will do the rest like that. I played with th single stem flower and created my first card.

Thanks again.

Hey you two! Not sure if you're aware of a fabulous tool that SU sells. I'm a fairly new stamper too and was never able to get my stamped images to line up exactly the way I wanted them to.

I then discovered the stampamajig that is sold on page 224. It works great! It allows you to stamp your image on an imaging sheet (while using the stamp positioner). You then place the imaging sheet where you want the actual stamped image to be. You place the positioner on the imaging sheet (the catalog gives a good example), remove the imaging sheet and then you stamp your actual image. Perfect placement every time! The stampamajig comes with much better instructions than what I typed.

Hi Linda:
Thanks for reminding me about that tool. I used it a few times when I first bought it, but completely fogot it. I guess it was the type of stamping I was doing at the time. I'll try using it to see if I get good results.
