Question mounted rubber stamps

Hello everyone! Just a quick question, I normally use clear stamps as I can easily see through where I'm stamping. But I wanted to try the wood-mounted rubber stamps the question is, do you use something in order to make sure your image is perfectly straight or aligned? (like Stamp-a-majig) or you just stamp it as it is?

any reply will be highly appreciated. thanks!

Interesting question! Most of the time, I just stamp - hoping I've lined things up ok. But when its really important for an image to be in a certain place, I used my Stamp A Ma Jig - especially for sentiments!

tommygirloz......I've un-mounted my stamps now, but before that I used a stamp positioner for placement each time.

I almost always use a stamp a ma jig. I'm funny about things being straight, and it's really easy to make friends with once you try it...
Good luck!

A SAMJ is really easy to use but in most cases, especially with layers, I just stamp and correct with trimming if I need to. With practice I have learned how each stamp lines up.

Definitely a Stamp-a-ma-Jig. I got mine at AC Moore and used a 40% off coupon.

I have never used my stamp a majig and most of my stamps are mounted. If I am not sure, I stamp it on a piece of scrap first. So far so good!

I can frequently eyeball a WM stamp with pretty good accuracy, if I simply drop down so my eyes are more at table level, and I can see the edge of the rubber image.

With 2 step style images, I just corner mount them on the block, and again, it's extremely easy to place it where I want it.

Because of this, I honestly do not find WM images any more difficult to position than clear.

If I can tell that the above method won't give me dead-on placement accuracy, then I use the SAMJ. Usually words/sentiments or long border images, that aren't flush mounted to the edge of the block.

HTH,

I also try to look at the stamp as I'm placing and if I get it wrong then I just cut out the image and layer it on cardstock.

If I'm stamping straight onto coloured card, or for a sentiment, I'll either eyeball it if it's not too important or use a SAMJ if postiioning is critical.
But often I am stamping the image onto white card or watercolour paper, and then if it's a bit off, when I am trimming the card down I can make sure it looks the way I want it to. So my answer would be - most of the time I don't use anything. TBH it's mostly for sentiments that I use the SAMJ.

I confess I'm a stamp a ma jig addict! It has improved my stamping not just by getting the images in the right place, but by helping me guide the stamp down straight so I don't accidentally 'rock' and mess it up.

I am a neat freak though LOL

I just eyeball it! I don't have to have perfectly aligned cards.

Don't tell anyone but I really don't understand how to use the SAMJ. ;) So for 12+ years I've done just fine w/o it.
