Default More dynamic card layout ideas needed

Hey ladies- I find myself in a bit of a card layout rut and I'm hoping you can help me out! I am not making cards that often these days- I'm mostly scrapping. I do make cards of course for holidays, birthdays, and most recently for a wedding shower I'm attending on Thursday.

Anyway, I see that I'm repeating the same basic layout over and over: a horizontal card with a horizontal ribbon running behind a sentiment/image stamped onto an oval or circle, the the ribbon knotted on the side. Don't get me wrong, I think all of the cards are nice and I like a clean simple layout, but I've become a one trick pony! Part of my problem is that I'm making a lot of cards kind of at the last minute, but even when I sat down with ample time on Sunday to make my recent card, it wound up the same- at this point I think I just don't know what to do and want to stick with something safe!

Here are some examples of recent cards I've made, some with sentiments, some without. Any ideas on how you would change things up?

Wedding card

Father's Day cards

Birthday card

Sympathy card

I liked all of your cards, though I understand what you mean about them all having the same layout. You may want to check out the clean and simple blog if you like the clean and simple look. You could find some interesting layouts there that still leave you with the nice "white space."

Of course, I'm also a HUGE fan of the card sketch challenges here on Splitcoast-check the master thread for all the past sketches.

PandaGirl....You may want to look in the Resources section for different techniques you can use to get different looks on your cards. There are also many different styles to choose.

Look throught various craft magazines for cards. You'll find lots of different layouts to give you inspiration and ideas.

Another fan of the sketch challenge here. And I'd have to say that originally I found it very hard, because it's not how I naturally work with putting a card together, and for the first couple of months it really was a challenge! But now really enjoy following them. Some are more complex, but some are very simple and graphic, so that really just a couple of nice papers and the stamped image are all you need. This week's one, for example, didn't really need any fancying up. That was SC233, and SC229, 228 and 227 all look as if they must have been strong simple sketches. I've certainly ended up with simple cards based on them.
The cards you have with the ovals, there's not a lot I can think of to change them up and keep a smiliar layout. But the Father's Day ones, even something like trimming another 1/4" off the base layer and cutting it into quarters, so that there's a little gap between each quarter, would add some extra visual interest. You might have to move the ribbon down a little for it to work, but you could experiment. A bit like this - IC180 Eva Inspired by Cook22 at Splitcoaststampers.

Thanks for the responses ladies! I'll definitely check out the sketch challenges- I've never done them, so it will be a whole new experience for me!

I really like the cards I saw on the clean and simple blog- I'll have to spend some time going through them.

I think what my cards are missing are little finishing touches. The sympathy card had a little bit more with the little pearls on the floral image, but they coudl probably all stand to have just a little something extra added to them- many of the cards I like on the C&S blog seem to have that extra little something to bring them to the next level, while still keeping them very C&S.

Definitely check the SCS sketch challenges. Also, I always find terrific sketches on the Mojo Monday blog!
