Default Monogrammed Card Question

When you make a set of monogrammed cards for someone (or self!), do you put the letter of their last name, or first name?

traditionally the last name, but you can do either when using just one letter.

We did this project at my stamp camp yesterday and, of course, the same question came up.

Formal correspondence typically uses the initial of the last name (surname), and informal correspondence can use either. Since the cards we made were more informal, most of us opted for first initial.

I was going to post this exact same question! I was thinking of making some monogrammed cards for my kids' teachers. (One has the same first and last initial so that one was easy!)

Thanks Jodi!

If you want the card to be casual, you can use the first initial of the first name.

The first initial of the last name is more formal.

Even more formal than that would be the first initial of the first name, the middle initial and the first initial of the last name.
