I was in Michael's on Friday and they were having a major redo in the section. The girl working there didn't know what was going on, so I am excited that they are expanding. I can't wait to go back and check it out! By the way, I heard that a lot of the Martha Stewart stuff had "vertical stripes" which she was inspired to create while in jail. (Just kidding!)
Question:
Are the Walmarts and Targets in your area cutting back on scrapbooking, etc.? It sure seems like ours are.
The Michaels closest to me in San Diego is pathetic and suffers from forever- empty shelves. If they improve this store in any way and can keep it stocked they can have my business again. Their scrapbook stuff has changed little over the years and really needs to be updated and expanded. Look at their huge selection of beads and beading supplies to see what I mean!

I just got back from a Michael's in North County San Diego and they were putting out all new cb items. Soo maybe that bodes well for the rest of the scrapbooking stock.

Where in San Diego do you live? Personally I H--- Michaels, and only go there if I can use the 40% off coupon, but if I know of a better stocked store in an area of San Diego I live in, I'll let you know. After all - us "stamping addicts" must stick together!
I just saw her announce this on her show. There is a contest to go with it. You'll have to go to her website for details. I've purchased cookware and gardening supplies from her catalog, and they've been great. She does put out a good product even if she does not use them. I think this is definately something to look into.

Get this. I was at the one in Encinitas, bought some of the new cb stuff in the morning. Then I went back last night, and only half of the new items were on display. I asked the manager where the dies went and she had no idea. The better Michaels is off 78. Actually there are 2 off of 78. I usually only go with the coupon too
Our Michaels has a whole section cleared out & labeled for the Cuttlebug stuff, but the items aren't out yet. They're working on redoing the whole "General Craft" section of the store, so it's a big project.
You really need to find the Michael's that fit for you. I have two within a short distance and I can barely stand one but love the other. It totally depends on the staff. But I usually don't make the effort unless we are talking coupon.

I must confess to being disappointed that after announcing over a year ago that she'd hooked up with EK that at the CHA Winter 07, there was STILL no Martha Stewart Product Line to even catch a glimpse of . . .
of course, I lack sorely in the patience department . . .
While it remains to be seen if her line will have anything "revolutionary" to offer, I am still looking forward to seeing if her product line will infuse that clean, classic simplicity, which I personally gravitate to, into the industry at last . . . I've been waiting, anxiously, a long time . . .

I used to shop at the M's on 78 across from Plaza Camino Real and it was usually quite good. The store on 78 and Sycamore by Target, to me, seems to stuck in time and never gets new stuff. We can keep hoping for some across-the-board improvements that stick! Oh, yeah, and more coupons!

When I went into Michael's last night to teach a cardmaking class the aisles from scrapbooking back to rubber stamping were tore up! I asked the Events Coordinator what was going on. She was ALL excited, bouncin' and said, "our store is preparing to carrythe new Martha Stewart scrapbooking/cardmaking line". Since the Northeast and out West is usually ahead of us in stocking new items, can anyone tell me what this line looks like? They also replaced all of their photo albums with the New Colorbox albums and I about dropped to me knees when I saw those...GORGEOUS!

I have two Mike stores within 15 minutes of me (in SE Michigan) and both are getting gutted as well. One of them I was at last night is further ahead and I would say there isn't much missing. I think they have made MUCH better use of their space, the shelves have product that is for sale (not boxes) higher up.
I think my Target is the same way--a lot more selection--just packed in tighter.
No sign of the MS stuff yet, but they did set a date (aprl 29?) so I imagine they'll stick to it.
Check your Michaels out for Scrapbook Discovery Day on April 28th! There will be free make and takes and there should be a drawing.
Our store doesn't have the Martha Stewart stuff in yet, but we have probably half of the reset done. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! There is some WONDERFUL stuff from K & Co that I really want!
I was at our Michaels in Apple Valley, MN, and it was being torn up last night too! I must say, they FINALLY have a ton of Cuttlebug stuff!!! I picked up some of the two step folders! Thank heavens. They were sorely lacking in the Cuttlebug action for a very long time now!
Altho I'm anxiously awaiting the new MS line and anything else new at my Michaels, I did notice that they have already included a line on the coupon "excluding" Martha's stuff. boo hoo!!
Have you seen the new magazines they have now. A lot more craft magazines from hot off the press and design originals. others also. I walked around to each isle just peeking at the differant ideas for magazines alone. I can spend a billion just on magazines and idea books. I love to look at books.
I saw this awesome ribbon book. It showed I don't know how many ways to use ribbons. On scrapbook pages. lamps. pictures frames. boxes bags. you name it For $20.00. These books will be going on my list every time I get a 40
5 off coupon, for a long time to come.
The only isle I really wished they would focus on some more is the stamping isle. They need more stazeon ink colors. a differant line of stamps. like penny black, hero. autumn leaves, Etc.They finally just added the adirondack inks and blender solution which I just bought today and the handle with refills for the adirocdack inks. But would love to see the new tool that cuts away the ezmount foam. the glue pad,the castaway, bleach pad.
Do you think we should mention it to these people who work there. HINT HINT.

Well, cool news. I'm glad to hear M's is adding new scrappin' product. I checked my coupon and yep it's a no go on the Martha products. Rats! But if they are having K & Co products I like those and there is not exclusion there! I'll have to travel over to M's in a week or so and see what I can see.

I read somewhere the MS line would be 18 x 18! Crazy!
You are absolutely right about Martha's line carrying 18x18 scrapbooking. All Michael's stores will be starting the Martha Stewart reset tomorrow (Monday, April 23rd). Can't wait to see the new stuff (hopefully) by the end of the week!
