Default Metallic Pencils

I just got the metallic pencils, but I can't see how to use them. Any great ideas?
Thanks,
Maggie

Default metallic Pencils

It's so funny you should say this. I had the same question. Yesterday I searched the gallery for anything using metallic pencils and I found some beautiful cards which immediately went into my favorites folder. I suggest giving that a try. A lot of the cards used In Full Bloom which I just got so I can't wait to try them out.

The main thing I do with my metallic pencils is use them like crayon resist. I love the way they look when brayered over with a darker ink like navy. After you wipe away to show the resist, the metallic pencils leave color behind, very cool.

I like the "bloom" effect. I color in with the pencils then take a tissue and wipe in a circlar motion. It speads the color around and looks great out side the stamped image. It's like the burnishing effect you would have using ink on sponges.

I've also seen cards where they colored with the metallic pencils on top of an image stamped in Craft White or Vanilla. I've never tried it but it looks beautiful.

Here are some instructions I found in a techniques booklet. Iwish they were more complete like the stamp set used and a picture but it gives you an idea of how to.

Metallic Pencils

Supplies: Stamp Set, Greeting Stamp, Metallic pencils, black cardstock, coordinating colored cardstock & ink, narrow organdy ribbon, embossing buddy, gold encore ink, gold detail embossing powder, mini glue dots, heat gun & corner punch.

1. Stamp greeting at bottom of largest piece of cardstock in coordinating ink. Stamp background with stamp of choice from stamp set.
2. Corner punch black cardstock. Use embossing buddy before stamping flower and leaf in gold encore. Emboss with gold detail embossing powder.
3. Color in flower and leaf with metallic pencils of your choice. When you have finished coloring, buff with a tissue.
4. Use glue dot to secure ribbon to back of black cardstock (this makes it easier to tie a bow). Tie bow with narrow organdy and assemble card.
