I haven't seen this posted yet and I'm sorry if it's a repeat. Just wasting time at Wal-Mart today waiting for a 'script and of course I have to check out crafts. There mixed in with the Cricut and other misc stamp stuff was MS 3 pk GLITTER! It was here and there all over the place. I immediately called best friend and was telling her. I counted ten different 3 pk color combos for $4.96 each (I only bought 9 of them,) then there was an 18 pack for $22.96. Then I realized there were stamps and pigmetn dye pads and those cat eye ink pads. I'm thinking there is going to be more since it was just all over the place it must be new merch and they just haven't set the modular yet. I will keep my eyes open!
oh my gosh.. Martha Stewart in Walmart.. I would've thought she would think she was too good for that! I didn't think she had craft items in KMart. I haven't ever tried any of her stuff.. I have heard good things and bad. Plus I live over 100 miles from a store that sells her products.

At my Archivers, they have really nice blank stationary by MS along with some punches (which I had to have the one that embosses and punches the edge)
I was surprised at how much MS stuff was at the Archivers near Castleton Square, in Indy. Was just there yesterday. I bought a border punch. But they had several other things.
The glitters are very nice. I've gotten a couple of the holiday packs when they went 90% off after the holiday. I don't "do" WalMart, but you're tempting me to go there. I haven't been since February, when my Brownie troop had a cookie booth outside there.
I LOVE Martha Stewart glitter! Thanks for the heads up! I will check our Wal-Mart. Presently, I have to travel 2 hours to get her stuff! I'm so excited!!!

Haha!! i don't "do" walmart either and people think i'm fricken' nuts. i just get this selling-out-to-the-man feeling when i go there. like with every item i buy another stand-alone store closes. that's how i feel about the martha stewart line too and henceforth own NOTHING of hers. i buy products made by actual scrapbookers/card-makers.

Some of you mentioned border punches. There were punches there too, but not border ones. Did I say stamps, she had the clear stamps and blocks. I have nothing here except WM so I was so glad to see something new. I think I alreadyown everything from there I want for crafts.
I understand why some people don't "do" Wal-Mart and you are entitled to your opinions without being critized for it. As for me and mine, WM buttered my bread for the seven years I worked there and the first four years we were married that DH worked there, so we do shop there.
The WalMarts out my way are discontinuing their fabric and craft sections.
That is the rumor in Michigan as well.

i wasn't criticizing. you guys make AWESOME stuff with martha stuff. i just won't pay martha prices..
and regarding Walmart.. it's some kind of disease for me. I can't leave Walmart without spending at LEAST $100, so that's why i just don't "do" it. (and the aforementioned reasons too...)

EGADS!
Ours seriously downsized two years ago, but there is 100% nothing else in town to fill that void. I can see fabric departments falling by the wayside, people just don't sew like they used to, they don't have to. Seriously crafts I would think could be a booming market right now. The markup is crazy!
i wasn't criticizing. you guys make AWESOME stuff with martha stuff. i just won't pay martha prices.. Thanks for clearifying that.
and regarding Walmart.. it's some kind of disease for me. I can't leave Walmart without spending at LEAST $100, so that's why i just don't "do" it. It seems that my usualy $20 trips have hit that mark now too. I'm actually happy when I week goes by that I didn't end up out there 2-3-4 times! Once a week is MORE than enough. (and the aforementioned reasons
too...)
It's not that I don't like Wal-Mart (as I said,) it's just I spend WAAAAY too much there. I wish we had someplace else to go for the general stuff. Ya know, just to mix it up a bit!
My AC Moore has been completely redoing their scrapbooking section and when I went there today, they were putting up MARTHA STEWART! Big change here and a lot of embellishments seem to be gone now.

Ha...Ha.....same here...LOL My husband calls Walmart the $100 store. We hardly ever leave there without spending $100, so I'm with you! I hardly ever go to that store!
My local Wal-mart's sewing and crafting secion is pretty non existent now. They put everything on clearance about 1 month ago, but they still seem to be restocking their small scrapbooking aisle. I hope they don't do away with that, because I buy my adhesive there-the ad-tech brand tape runner. Holds like cement for a very reasonable price. I know what you mean about not walking out of there with out spending $100! Everytime I go to get a couple of things, it always ends up more, more, more!
Well, shoot; I went to our local Wal-Mart this a.m. and no Martha Stewart to be found! I'll have to check back again...
Time to get PROactive! Ask for the dept mgr. If they have already received their new modular they know what's coming. Sometimes they will hold all the new merchandise together in the back room and blitz it all out at one time. I'm sure our is just mixed in so they wouldn't have to hold it in the back. Maybe check their online site, do they even have crafts there? Keep checking. Good luck, I hope you find it, maybe a neighboring store.

Well, this is an idea! In fact, the store manager used to be my neighbor! Maybe it will pay to have "connections"! LOL

You sound just like my DH. He hates that I shop there. He's a farm boy from small town Manitoba and hates the "big guys". He hasn't eaten at McDonalds in years (for putting small family ranches out of business) and won't eat Lay's potato chips (not sure why but something to do with the huge corporation thing) and WalMart---wont' step foot inside because he thinks of the small mom and pop stores in his home town. I totally respect him (any you!) for that but I do shop there anyway and if Martha's hitting Walmart I am a happy camper about that.
I was in Wal-M earlier this morning and couldn't resist buying the MS "bird" clear stamps. But my dilemna is figuring out what each bird is so I can color it correctly! The only one that looks familiar to me is the second one down on the left; I believe it's a cardinal. Any one have any idea what the others are?
I don't understand why people object to shopping at Wal-Mart but will go to Target, Costco, Sams Club, Walgreens, Home Depot etc.
My experience with Walmart is that everyone I have been into ( in several states) are dirty/cluttered and have poor customer service, including always having very few registers open which results in long lines. I don't have this experience in places like Target and Costco and I find their own brand product quality better.

Sams=WalMart so I wouldn't shop there either. I don't do Lowe's or Home Depot if I can find what I need at the local hardware store. I like to support local, independent businesses as much as possible.
I do shop at Costco, though. They're very well known for treating their employees well. I've seen many of the same faces there for as long as they've been open, 10 or 11 years? Meanwhile, WalMart is paying out big settlements in my state for forcing employees to work off the clock.
If you can find it, check out the documentary, "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Prices." That cemented my feeling that they were a business I didn't need to support.
Off my soap box, but feel free to PM me or move this off to Current Events...

That is all effected by the store manager. If you have a good store manager and the moral in the store is good, this doesn't usually happen.

I have worked at our local WM for 15 years and have seen good and bad. They are guilty of doing really dumb things, like making people work off the clock. Never had that problem myself, but it is a shame that you have managers out there doing things like that. I have also seen them do a lot of good. One of those things being to raise money for Childrens Miracle network, which for the hospital our fundraising goes to, was a life saver for my son who was a preemie and myself, if I hadn't been able to go there might not be here today. That being said, I live in a small town and if you want a selection, you have to drive at least an hour each way or shop online. If I can support our local small stores, you bet I do. I don't want to see them close at all. I love the atmosphere of the small town shops and while there is talk of our store going supercenter, I hope that it never happens. I don't want our town to change and get bigger. It is great the way it is. I can understand the negativity directed towards the almighty WM, as I have had some rough moments thru my 15 years, but alot of it is your management. If you have a good manager, things run well, but if you don't then you hate getting up in the morning and going in. Am I a cheerleader for them? Not at all. I am just speaking from my experiences.
Back to the topic though, I can't remember what our Dept Mgr said exactly, but I think that her resets will come down towards July, so maybe the proucts are just starting to roll into the stores now and the ones that have the room to put it out are putting out. I haven't seen anything marked down in our store yet, but it will be interesting to see what we get, especially since we are a small store.
I don't understand why people object to shopping at Wal-Mart but will go to Target, Costco, Sams Club, Walgreens, Home Depot etc.
I DON'T shop at those stores either!!
I whole-heartedly support my LSS. If Martha can't understand that LSS'S are what drives our industry, and therefore would support it by allowing her stuff to be sold there, then I won't buy it. I got equally mad when I saw cuttlebug stuff being sold at walmart for half the price of my LSS. If walmart keeps doing this then soon they will undercut all the LSS'S and they will all close, and we'll have to shop at Michaels, walmart, and costco for all our supplies. AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! IT'S MY NIGHTMARE COME TO LIFE!!!!!!!!!!
sorry. back to our regularly scheduled program: Martha at Walmart!!

i don't think target, costco, walgreens, home depot, & lowe's put the same kind of pressure on their suppliers that walmart does. that's my beef with them........it's their "do it our way or go out of business" bully mentality that bothers me. i try very hard to not buy from them if i can help it.
I LOVE Wal-Mart because it has been the ONLY national store in the last two towns we have lived in (we're military). Of course, I really like Target and all the others and will not frequent Wal-Mart as much once we live somewhere bigger, but I was so excited today when I saw the MS stuff I almost fell over!!!!!! ;) It's nice to have SOMETHING crafty in the town I live in. It's too bad that there never is a LSS where I live. Oh well, Wal-Mart will have to do!!!
Our town just got a Supercenter. Was looking in the craft section today and couldn't believe it when I found a whole section of Martha Stewart stuff. Glitter, inks, paper and stamps! She even has an interchangable monogram stamp set.
i normally like to buy my scrapping/card supplies from small local scrapbooking stores (but Hobby Lobby usually gets a ton of my money too!) but after seeing Martha's glitter yesterday..i think i will have to buy some!!!

I asked the sales clerk today if they were going to get a new modular for scrapbookking and she said they should have it set in a week or two. A bunch of the stickers and all the Disney was on clearance today.
NYStamper~you sounded like an associate in your posts. I'm a former one. I defend Wal-Mart 100% on most of their issues. It's usually the first place I go to buy anything, I sort have forgotten about other stores. I do understand why people have problems with them, but thye wouldn't be where they are now if the didn't fill a niche out there somewhere. Right now places like Wal-Mart are starting to see an increase in sales due to how the economy and gas prices are right now.
Mars671~since you just got a new Supercenter it would be set with all the newwest stuff. You need to go look and get back with us with a detailed list of what stuff there is!!

i have some adtech too, and i was at michael's yesterday and saw they have this in the aisle with all the adhesives. (not the scrapbooking section adhesives.) it was 2.99. i don't know if the refills were there, but i would assume they would be.

We have several Walmarts in outlying areas - but the nearest one is probably about 20 minutes away. Their selection of rubber-stamping supplies is non- existent. I agree with the poster who mentioned the Ad-tech adhesive. That's all I use! When I go to Walmart, I usually grab several.
As for Walmarts forcing smaller stores out, I'm sure that's true. However we live in a very small town, and most of our smaller stores are closing and, like I said, the nearest Walmart is 20 minutes away! I guess it's just so convenient for everyone to travel further distances to get what they need. Walmart is good for disabled people, such as my sister, who uses a scooter chair. She buys her groceries, household needs, clothes, etc all with one stop.
With gas prices the way they are, we may go back to the days when there was a country store every half mile or so!
I haven't shopped at Wal-Mart in over 5 years. The service was poor, the stores felt dirty and crowded, and the atmosphere just felt icky to me. Not to mention, the items I did buy from WM were of poor quality. I'd much rather spend more money to purchase something I can rely on for a long time. I shop at Target and independent sellers for what my family needs.
Okay, enough about Wal-Mart, lets get back to Martha! My store finally set the modular the end of last week. We have glitter, glue, clear stamps, clear blocks, ink pads, pens, glitter pens, glitter letters, punches and more Martha stuff than I can remember. There are also some holes where they didn't have the new merch yet. On the other side of the aisle there are new packs of paper; glitter paper, metallic paper and some other one I can't think of yet. There are also new paper packs. Moving on down there are new K & Co. sticker packs in the condensed sticker section. Oh, how could I forget that there are now more Cricut cartridges. I'm sure that they are "new" new, just new to WM. So go out and check ladies, the modulars should all be set by the end of the week. Also, if the label has a small AM or AS on the left part of the bottom, by the barcode, that means it's an assembly item and could take 6-8 weeks, (sometimes longer) to get back in stock. It means it's shipped straight from the vendor and not kept in the WM warehouse. If the letters are WH, then it's warehouse and should not be out more than a couple days, a week at the most. (Unless the warehouse is out of stock too.) So hurry out and buy buy buy, I think most of thelabels I looked at were not warehouse items! Good luck and happy shopping. I personally have all the glitters and three new packs of cool paper.
