I bought them all at once because the Marker Club that I joined fell thru. :(
If you can get into a Marker Club, that is the best way, cause you can pay for one color family at a time, but still get the case when your month comes up!
I am doing family by family, there was just no way I could afford all the markers at once. If you buy them family by family, they do come in their own little plastic case, but nothing like the one you get if you buy them all at once. I've heard that most people LOVE the case it comes in ... but then some people (like my demo) has all the markers according to "colour" instead of "family" in a little storage container with drawers and that's what works best for her.
I am getting them by family because I like having them in the flat cases rather than the big case. That way when I'm going to workshops, I can just slip one flat case into my bag rather than the whole whammy or just a few loose markers.
I would do them all at once... then you are just 30 bucks away from being an actual workshop... add in a stamp set, some paper... or an order from a friend, and you could get all the hostess benefits too! Plus you really want the Big Case!!
I got them all at once because I knew I wanted to case. If the case is not a factor for you, then buying them by color family would be okay too.
I have a friend that has been buying them individually and has accumulated quite a few of them. Now she is bummed though, because she would really like the case, but can not justify buying the set when she already has so many of the colors.
My thoughts would be...decide if the case is important to you, and buy them accordingly.
i think i am there as well ! I want all of them ! I am thinking the case is a swell idea as well since i do not have a stamp room ill need them handy! Well I am pretty much sold on this now back to my decison makingonink pads, !!

I bought them all at once, but I'm like Shanon, NO PATIENCE!! I'm really glad that I did it that way since I stamp the angel stamp on all my cards and I use the same color ink to do that. I JUST ordered and received the new colors (stamp pads and markers) and excited about using them.
All at once -- use the purchase to get closer to hostess bennies. Plus, you get the case. Plus, it fills the addict in each of us. Plus, I think if that is all you are ordering, you'll save on shipping although I haven't done the math.

A marker club is where a demo gets several people together that all want the markers. Each month you purchase say 1/4 of the price of the full set. Each month one of the members of the club gets their set. So basically it is split up by four people and you have your markers at the end of the 4 months.
I would by the whole set also. Unless I was in a marker club.

I got them all at once (birthday present) and I'm glad because I love the case with the carry handle. Now that I've got new colors to add to it, I'm not AS happy as I was before, lol...because I want them all...old and new in the case and my cardboard insert doesn't have the new formation.

Check with your demo - I pouted to mine and she gave me a new insert she had printed off the SU demo site. I just had to color in all the little squares, cut along the lines and pop it in. I keep old colors in a closed container and those are the ones I let my daughter use - she thinks I'm da bomb for letting her use my SU markers! Hee, Hee...
There were 4 of us that agreed for the next 4 months to pay for 1/4 of a set. Each month the demo ordered the whole set, took 10% off and gave the box to one of the 4 in the club, and gave one color family group to each lady. The next month, the same thing til all had the whole set and the box. The hardest part was waiting til we got the whole set!!
I'm purchasing mine separately because I can add them to hostess benefits if I only have about $2 left in my hostess benefit portion. As a result, I've gotten all my markers free.
novell- how much did you pay apx for the case i was just curious i am a little back in debate on this now my biggest order backed out so taht leaves my hostess beneifts on the rocks .
