I'm sure this has been dicussed before but when I searched the forum I couldn't find anything. I'm in love with the SU inkspots, they just seem easier for me to use then larger pads and I so badly wanted to have them in the new In colors....well SU doesn't make the ink spots for the In Colors. I got this idea from someone else but just had to share it with some of us new stampers here that may not know ...
You can make your own inkspots. All you have to do is buy the SU reinkers and then buy these blank ink spots (actually used for painting Gourds - go figure lol) http://www.mardigourds.com/index.php...roducts_id=403
This is what I have done for all SU colors other than 1 color family which I have full size pads. It was so easy and I actually like the spots better than the full size pads. I highly recommend this. It is quick and easy. You get a spot and have the reinker for lots of refills or other projects.

Exactly my thoughts too I figured most of the pro stampers here know this already but for us newbies it's a 'new found discovery' lol. I figure even if you have the full size pads and reinkers, you can still make an ink spot for each color you own. This way you have a full size pad and an Ink Spot of each color.
But they are 16.20 for 12 and the spots are 22.50 for 12 and fully inked and labelled...
They also sell packs of 3 for much less and SU doesn't make the 'IN COLORS' ink spots - you can't buy them. They only have the 'in colors' (the 5 new colors) in reinkers (or large pads that I'm not interested in) so if you want spots you have to make them yourself. Hope I'm making sense....and I'm assuming that's the case for all there new colors as they release them ink spots is what I want.
I bought the inkssentials stamp pad foam so what I plan on doing is getting some of the re-inkers and buying some of the dollar store little square ink pads and taking out the ink pads, cleaning up the containers, then using my stamp pad foam and the re-inkers. I looked into buying the little pads on-line and the shipping is too much to make it worthwhile buying. So for $1 and some soap and water, I'll have all the little inkspots.

That's a great idea, I may give it a try and see how hard it is
Also for those that want the empty spots the site I listed isn't the only place on the web that sells them. Shop around using google and the words Gourd and Ink pads LOL ....and many sites have them..maybe with better shipping
I just figured for those of us that really want the in colors on ink spots we would do anything for them (kidding) lol!!!
Great ideas coming out of this post ....all helpful to the newbies like myself
I bought uninked cube stamp pads online from Jackson Marking Products. The link below shows the inked cube pads. When ordering, choose uninked in the ink color menu.

At Mardigourds you can also buy foam cubes for making craft spots. I didn't want to spend a mint on craft pads, or sets of spots when a few will do. They are also good for dye based ink (you don't get that weird cloth pattern on your solid stamps)
I bought the cloth (dye) and foam (craft) spots at Mardigourds and I have all the SU dye and craft pads. Why did I buy them? Because I wanted spots for edging. It's so much easier with a spot. I found that I like the foam better and I've been using it for dye ink and it works great.
I also make spots for the Incolor instead of buying a full pad and I make my own incolor markers using the refill and a versacolor marker. I've heard you can also make your own marker using the refill and a blender marker. I've been using the versamarker so I can emboss if I want to.
If I didn't already have the full sized craft pads I would have bought spots for craft ink as I don't use them that much. Would really save on storage

But the nice thing about making your own is you have the re-inker for future use to ink up the pad or marker, to water color with, etc. etc.

This is a great idea. Besides making In-Color spots, it's good for when you only want a couple of colors from a color family, you don't have to buy the whole set of 12 spots.
I have been buying these and the one from Wellborne for the last 4 years and making my own spots...Not just SU...all my TH Distress inks are in spots, Palette, and quite a few others as well...Great savings and I love working with the small size...
