I made a 6x6 card, and the only envelope I have that it will fit into is a clear square envelope. Can I put a piece of square white cardstock on both sides of the card and just print the address onto the cardstock? Adhere the postage to the outside of the envelope......I have never mailed anything in a clear envelope before, and I feel strange just mailing it for all to see what it is! Thanks!
Yes, you can do that. Because the envelope is square, be sure to add extra postage. Not sure how much extra...
edited to add: it's 20 cents extra, so 65 cents total. It's completely okay to print the address on the white cardstock which will be inside the clear envelope. That's what a lot of businesses do anyway - they print the address on the bill and stick the bill in an envelope with a clear window. The postage does have to go on the outside, like you said you'll do, because they have to stamp the postmark on the stamps to render them "used".

The only thing with clear envelopes is that the postage must be on the outside so they can cancel it. For the record, I have never used extra postage on clear envelopes and they have always gotten to the end destination without additional postage due. Just saying...do what you think is right as far as the postage goes. If it has a lot of embellishments or bumps you might want to bump it to .65 from the regular .45.
blessings.
you ladies are lucky I ALWAYS have to pay xtra. the lady at my po wants xtra if there is a bump in the card, doesn't matter if it is not bulky any little bit of ribbon or a brad and she says that will cost .20 more. I now mail everything in the next town over and it all goes except the clear envelopes. Made Christmas cards for a lady one year (100) and she mailed them all in clear envelopes and had to pay the xtra.

I often use clear envelopes and I put the addy on a white sticker, so the card shows up through the envy. It looks so pretty.
My post office has a thing with a slot in it. If the card fits through with no problem, it's 45 cents. If it has trouble fitting through, it's 20 cents more. I bought a sheet of 20 cent stamps so I could just do it at home.
