Default Magic Wand Advise

My 8 year old niece asked Santa for a "Toy Magic Wand with Stars & Sparkles". So my sister called and asked me to make this since this isn't something you can find anywhere. I have the supplies and I plan on using a dowel and to make the tip of the wand a "star" shape. However I am trying to decide what to make the star out of. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking cloth and then stuff it so that the dowel would be easy to attach, but maybe plastic? Any suggestions would be great!

as long as she's not going to be beating a sibling with it, i would use two of the star wooden shapes that you can find at the craft store and attach them to the dowel. (i guess you could also just use one)

Why didn't I think of that? That's a good idea! Thanks.

Or papier mache...I think Michaels has a whole bunch of different shapes, including stars. Probably a little um, safer, maybe?

How about chipboard... and you can find this in the inserts of your paper pack... or even cardboard box or cereal box. Use a star template that you can find online or if you have a software make it yourself... or hand draw it. and cut the board and then cover it with felt and add some soft stuffings. you can hot glue and then sew (just through the board and over the stick for extra) the wand stick to the board before covering it with stuffings and felt. The felt, you can decorate it first with beads, sparkles, or just stitching. You can sew on ribbons too to the side.

I've never made it. I just made the above up. Sounds good though... I want to try now

Good luck and would love to see the final result!!!

Oh, there are wands but the nice ones are expensive. They're sold at some boutique online... it's a tutu store.

Felt would be nice if you have a sewing machine.

No, you can hand stitch it.
I think it'll look nicer all stitched up.
I'm no pro but did this.
There's a link to a tut too on how to do the stitches.

I did an ornament too... could have been a star
I am making more.
I'm no pro, those two are the only ones actually.

I make these and sell them. I have star shapes and heart shapes with beads and ribbons. PM me if you're interested, maybe I can ship one out to you.

Default wand

I made a "Queen of the Fantasy Baseball League" for a friend of mine last year. I used foam stars.

Here are directions for a magic wand with a glittery star. I'd probably wrap a ribbon around the stick, use ribbon instead of cord to attach the little stars and add a few bells or beads to the little star ribbons. I'd also probably wrap and glue a ribbon around where the little star ribbons are tied for a more finished look.
