I just sent out the email below today. Let me hear from you ok.
Oh goody. Thank you all for responding. Sounds like you all don't mind driving as long as it's to stamp!
I went to the Stafford shoebox swap and loved it. The traffic on a Fri. night was awful though and I was over an hour late. Don’t worry we will not be meeting on a Friday a night. Let me know if there are other concerns about traffic. It’s just a way of life in this area.
So here’s the scoop:
There are 8 of us (including me) from the surrounding area
1.Chris from Springfield is a TAC Demonstrator new to the area (has company for 3 weeks)
2.Gina from Alexandria
3.Cris from Falls Church (will not be available April1-12 and May 7-June 28 getting married)
4.Tara from Bristow (will be out of town quite a bit April-June, also getting married!)
5.Suzanne from Herndon
6.Patricia from Alexandria
7.Peggy from Manassas is a SU Demonstrator (busy Mom of 3 teenagers and works full time)
8. (and me) Nan- I’m a former acrylic toile painting teacher who never thought I’d enjoy a craft more than painting. A friend dragged me to a stamping party 6 years ago and I’ve been compulsively stamping ever since. I have 2 grown daughters in College and do not work outside the home. Mostly I do not work; I just stamp! My husband can attest to this.
When -It looks like it is going to be hard to work out a time that everyone will be available. I failed to consider that I was trying to organize this just at a time when many of you will be busy with summer plans. I am however very flexible. I can have you over day or night, weekend or weekday. We can get together as soon as next week if you’d like? I was hoping this could work out to be an ongoing thing where we can meet once a month. Let me know if that sounds like a good idea.
I’m thinking of shooting for a:
___Wed. night 7 PM
___Sat. night 7 PM
___Sat. 2:00 PM
___Or a weekday morning 10 AM
Please take a minute now to let me know. Please comment on all 4 options above with a simple yes answer for each option if that could possibly work for you. Thanks!
I can send out directions to my house once we firm up our plans. I live in the Lakeridge Area of Woodbridge near Old Bridge Road and Harbor Dr.
What to bring -Each of us attending will create a sample stamped card ahead of time to share along with a shoe box containing everything needed for each person attending to make a duplicate of that card.
Size-I usually make my cards using half of a sheet of 8 ½ x 11 sheet of card stock (size 4 1/2 x 5 ½ when folded) but actually any size will do. There are so many interesting folded card ideas using different sizes. I also enjoy making cards that fit in business size envelopes.
Supplies- Bring enough supplies for all 8 of us (or for each attending. I’ll let you know how many will be coming) to make one of your sample cards. Pre cut all of the cardstock needed and stick it in a small plastic bag. Then place it and all other items you used to create the card in a shoebox (or any similar size box will be fine). Include ribbon, buttons, hole punch, stamp pads, sponge, markers, chalk pads w applicators, markers etc. Be thorough and try not to leave anything out.
We will do full cards, not just the card fronts. Don’t worry about enclosing envelopes for the cards.
Cost -There will be no cost for the shoebox swap because we just swap our supplies and ideas with each other. We will go home with up to 8 different cards that we will have created while here.
We may want to take turns with snacks for future swaps, but I’ll supply some goodies for the first swap.
I have a large 4’ x 8’ table in my stamping room and can seat 8-12 people around it. I will have wash and dry pads for everyone set up as well as scrap paper for you to stamp off on. We can take a few minutes at the beginning of our gathering to allow each one of us a chance to talk through the instructions or the how to’s of our cards. You can also enclose written instructions in your shoebox with some helpful tips if you’d like.
Please do take a minute to respond to the options I listed above for days/times that will be best for you to get together. Let me know if you have any other questions or suggestions. I look forward to meeting and stamping with all of you, Nan
