Default On-line water color classes

A friend and I are thinking about taking beginning water coloring classes. I know there are some great teachers who do this from past posts, but unfortunately, I haven't saved the names. Those of you who water color and know of good on-line classes, please share!

I love Danielle Donaldson's style. She teaches online courses: https://danielle-donaldson.teachable.com/courses/ but they're a bit spendy. I have this book, which is wonderful: The Art of Creative Watercolor

Sandy Allnock teaches online courses, too: https://art-classes.com/watercolor/

This is a GREAT question and I'm subscribing to the thread to find out folks' suggestions - I've nearly pulled the "add to cart" button on some in the past but without testimonials from people I know (or at least from my Splitcoast family ) I backed out. I sure don't want to waste the money!

I do, however, follow a few watercolor artists on YouTube (one of our own is a particular favorite of mine - Micheline Jourdain... >HERE< is a link to her latest gallery upload and inside there's a link to the video on her YouTube channel), as well as keep up with the weekly Watercolor Challenge here for free ideas and "lessons." Kristina Werner does some lovely watercolor projects as well, as does Sandy Allonock - both I think have classes you can buy, but their YouTube channels do have several free watercolor tutorials.

Good luck!

I agree wholeheartedly with the Micheline Jourdain suggestion! I've followed along with some of her tutorials, but, ahhh, didn't get the same results as she did, LOL. There was also another lady who seemed quite interesting from the Stress Free Cardmaking Summit last year: Desiree Keummerle. She had a course called 'Getting comfortable with our watercolours'. I didn't look at the course, coz I couldn't access it, but it sounds good for beginners (although I can't find it now, sorry). There's also a lady who does amazing abstract florals, called Yvonne Joyner (no relation), and I think she does workshops in Arizona: https://www.yvonnejoynerstudio.com/. You'll probably have to narrow down the type of watercolours you want to learn before you pay someone! For example, realistic, abstract, landscapes, nature, suitable for cardmaking, large artwork, small artwork, that sort of thing. All the best with your search!

Renata, is this your person? https://www.includeathankyou.com/#/

I have taken a class with Online Card Classes and it was a bit over my head, watercolor for cardmakers, but I did learn a few things and can revisit as I like. There was one that I really learned quite a bit from taught by Debby Hughes called Intro to Color Theory. She based the entire class on watercolor. You can learn a lot from her videos. Here is her website: https://limedoodledesign.com/

I second Sandy Allnock. I signed up for her Watercolor Jumpstart a couple(?) of years ago. It covers a lot of basics & technique, though I have *cough cough* not yet gone past Lesson 1. Nothing to do with the quality of the course - just me not making it a priority to do the lessons! I had made it kind of a resolution last January. Guess I have to roll that resolution over into 2024! LOL She does have other watercolor classes through her art-classes.com site. HTH!

YES, Lisa! And in fact, here's the link to the course:
https://www.includeathankyou.com/ult...pt-2023.html#/
The blurb says, "We will walk you through supplies, talk about color theory, mix a few colors and YES, we will even complete a card together using a very simple technique to get you started on your water coloring journey!"

I love Sarah Cray at Let's Make Art. She has a beginner series of videos and goes from there.

Shellie, I agree - Sarah does some wonderful watercolor videos. I've not done her learning to paint series but I've done several Let's Make Art paintings and really appreciated her easygoing style and helpful tips.

I have taken several of Kristina Werner watercolor classes and they are very easy to follow and not too overwhelming. She sometimes brings in guest speakers, such as Jennifer McGuire, etc. Let Me see if I can find her link:

Here is her watercolor christmas from last year or the year before but you can look around her site. I see she has stencil classes too which I have not tried

https://www.onlinecardclasses.com/pr...lor-christmas/

Here's another link too describing it better https://www.onlinecardclasses.com/

Thank you for posting this question and for all the answers. I'm working on a basics of shading type of class right now and don't have my 'next' planned.
