Great!! I would assume also offering to send someone a catty would fall in this category. May I suggest that all demos for all the companies represented here just send them to your company's main page?? We do not come to SCS to get business and if you do then that is not the right thing.
Let's keep SCS a safe and fun place for ALL OUR customers!
And while it is NOT in the TOS... I agree that customers looking for a catty or demo should be refered to the individual company's demo locator... unless the customer contacts YOU personally and initiates the relationship.

Yikes...safe? Because of this site I have bought stamps from Cornish Heritage Farms, Eureaka, Addicted to Stamping, and many stamps from SU, including watercolor crayons.
I think she said "safe" meaning that if someone is asking a question regarding a company she won't get PM'd by demos/consulting asking if she would like more information or to join their team. There are lines that have been crossed and they need to stop.
We all make our own choices and there is nothing wrong with discussing great product and companies. The problem comes in when individuals take it into their own hands.

But it is fun!! ;)
Well ya, I have to agree! SCS is NEVER that safe! too many great ideas here! lol!
Let's just remember to not get all snarky about this as well. Sometimes type comes across like that and people get offended and before you know it, things blow up and it's not a happy place!!! All because a couple of words got misinterpreted. ;)
Just wondering who has been snarky on this post?? Jen is just clarifying the rules that have seem to have been missed lately. We all just want what is best for our customers and friends who come on here.
I'm not trying to be difficult, but I'm curious if I was breaking a rule when I posted the other day on an existing thread, looking for a consultant for another company . . . I actually purposely chose NOT to use that company's consultant-locator, because I wanted someone who was a SCS-user, and I was hoping to find the person I had bought from a year or two ago . . .
My DH would find my inquiry funny, because I'm so not a rule breaker . . .
Not saying anyone was...it was simply a friendly reminder. I've seen a few posts blow out of control because someone took something the wrong way. That's all. ;)
You know Leslie...SCS is how I found my TAC demo....because I asked about the company and it didn't seem to be a problem then. Who knows though? I also found a new Stampin' Up demo, without asking anyone of couse, just someone PM'ed me because I had mentioned that mine didn't seem too peachy keen. ;)

You asking is not a problem... someone PM'ing you who is not in your Immediate area offering to sell you a product IS a touchy area. You initiated the contact; so it's not against the TOS for them to contact you, or for you to have made the original post.
Some of us feel that all requests for a demo of any company should be refered to the demo locator, or at least responded to ONLY by demos in that immediate area of the country. If everyone did this it would help maintain the integrity of SCS as a place of stamping and friendship, and not solicitation.
Of course there are always exceptions, and the TOS is somewhat open to interpretation. Many of us have developed friendships here that have developed into customers or even recruits. Personal relationships bound to develop!

Just know that if you did not request the solicitation, it in against the TOS here for a demo here to contact you and offer her services. Of course if you did not report the contact, then I assume you were not offended by it. This is where the TOS becomes grey. The TOS can only be upheld if an offending post or PM is reported.

This is not really a new policy. It has been in the TOS. It has just been more of a problem recently and so it is being brought to everyone's attention.

I notice that you have you event posted in your signature line. I think it's a great idea. Am I allowed to do that too? I have some events coming up that I would love people to attend. I checked you link and it invites non-demonstrators and there is a fee. Is that okay for us to do? Just asking cause I want to and I think it's cool.
Thanks,
Gina

This is the best suggestion I have heard all year!! BRAVO!
What do you mean by a direct link? Sorry I am clueless
If you click on the star button, a pm box opens up to type your comment to the mods. It's already titled as a "bad post report" so you would only comment something like..."this looks like solicitation," or, "spam!!," something like that. When a mod sees it, it has a link to the post/thread you are reporting. Very quick and easy to do!

LOL what she said...and philosophy moisturizer, bare escentuals, silver jewelry club, prima flowers, tonic cutters, wild asparagus paper, scalloped punches, etc. Don't know about "safe".... "out of bankruptcy" might be more like it!

I was glad to see Daven's announcement on the home page, too. Thanks, Jenn, for pointing it out! I think for a long time, pretty much all the demos around here were SU demos, and it was understood that solicitation was not allowed. Everybody pretty much stuck to recommending the demo locator to people, or answered questions in a general way, knowing that the person asking might just be a sister demo's customer already. With the massive growth of people and other companies represented here, reminders are always a good thing to throw out, before grievances begin to pile up.
Gina, I think (not sure) the event you're talking about in the signature line is more of an "SCS" oriented gathering, rather than a commercial event. It's not exclusively SU or any other company. If I were to have a huge stamp camp type event, where I would be acting as an "SU Demo," I could not put that in my tag line. Big difference.

The event I am hosting is a SCS event and is not an event that will benefit my business. If you look at the Sticky at the Top of the "Get it Together" forum, there are guidelines for Get togethers. Things that are not allowed include Stampin' Up! classes, or gatherings where a profit generating fee is involved. That is why you see a lot of Shoebox swaps, Stamped gift exchanges or other activities at these events that do not involve one demonstrator purchasing product to share with the participants... as this would benefit her business. While I am charging a fee for the event, the fee will be going towards lunch, snacks, and other treats/door prizes for the guests that will not benefit my monthly sales.
If you are unsure about your event, and if it falls within these guidelines, just PM a mod in that forum.

Yes this is against the TOS and it is also against the demo agreement. Your demo could get in big trouble. I've heard lately of a lot of people getting PM's that they did not initiate and this has just got to stop.

Yes! It really can help to go read the Big Guy's there on the home page, and also the TOS, both of which Jenn has linked to in her OP, so I hope folks will take a few moments to review those topics, and keep in mind the policies are there to preserve that community aspect we all love and appreciate about SCS!
Thanks, Big Guy!
