Default Kitchen thanks inspiration

I've been asked to share a picture of my new kitchen that inspired and was the reason for this card Kitchen Thanks.

First a wee story. My husband and I are missionaries in the inner-city of our city (Regina, Saskatchewan). One of the churches that support us is just on the south end of the city and they love to get involved with projects with us.

In December one of the small groups from the church gave me a While You Were Out type make-over of my kitchen. We had been talking about a kitchen reno in several years when we had saved up enough money. This small group asked my husband to arrange for me and our girls to stay somewhere else for a long weekend (Thursday through Sunday) and they came in and worked with him to do a total renovation of our kitchen. There's all new cabinets, new built in dishwasher and microwave (with a fan/light attached, yeah!), new flooring, and they moved my sink to under the window instead of under the cabinets on the opposite wall.

My dh did have to tell me because he couldn't figure out how to get me to go stay at a friend's only a week and a half before Christmas on one of my busiest weekends of the year. Even knowing to expect something, it was still a surprise to walk into that much change! I never knew my kitchen could look like that!

Anyway, here's what the kitchen looked like before:

So pretty! I love the new cabinets. I have been after my DH to do something with our tiny kitchen. I hardly have any cupboard space. my kitchen & cabinets are about as old as the house - 101 years! Time for an update!

Thank you for sharing this wonderful story! I used to live in Regina and like hearing news from there. Your friends did an excellent job with the layout -- the new kitchen looks so much more efficient, spacious, and accessible! Not to mention very classy and elegant!
