Default Just finished making Denise's Lotion...

It feels great! I filled the two vitamin e jars, the two vaseline jars, and 2 pint size mason jars. I thought it made more than that. Anyway, if it works as good as it feels, it's gonna be great. Now to decorate the jars....

I'm going to try this too. After the holidays though. What did you use for the scented lotion part? and does it feel good on, like will it soften your dry hands? Sorry all the questions........

I found this on SCS...

Here is the recipe for those who would like it:

Denise's Lotion Recipe
15 ounce vaseline petroleum jelly
16 ounce vitamin e cream*
"2" 16 ounce baby lotion

Mix all this together with hand mixer in METAL bowl.(it will look like thick cake frosting)
Then spoon into jars with a METAL spoon
(note: don't use anything plastic or your stuff may taste like lotion)

*I found Fruit of the Earth Vitamin E cream in a twin pack at Wal-Mart for under $3. It comes in a nice white jar similar to the ones I purchased at Specialty Bottle (see below).

For jars, I purchased white cosmetic jars from Specialty Bottle. You can see them here.

Here are my decorated jars.

I have been using this for over a year. I have extremely dry skin due to a thyroid condition. I L O V E this stuff. My feet are soft my hands are soft and my face is soft....love it!!!

The Walmart Equate stuff is fine to use but the Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stuff goes bad almost immediately.

The baby scent disappears really quickly too. Things tend to turn smelly on me (acid skin thing) and this lotion does not.

Linda-what do you mean the dollar store (is there a difference between dollar general store and family dollar?) stuff goes bad? I just made a batch I meant to use as gifts, but I don't want to give them away if they aren't going to be nice and last. Thanks for your time.

This sounds like an interesting lotion. And I'd love to see the jars that you used, but there isn't a link showing up on my computer in your post.

I used the Dollar General brand, and mine did not go bad. I used it all winter long last year and even those I gave as gifts were just fine too.

I don't find this to be true. I still have some from last year and most of it I bought from the $ Tree. I just checked some this am, and it's still good?

I made a batch of this for myself and for stocking stuffers for all the women in the family. (I have two sisters and a mom. DH has four sisters and a mom!)

Everyone loves it. One SIL is a speech pathologist at a hospital so she washes her hands A LOT. I gave her the lotion a week ago to test. She loves it. I've found it to be really effective in keeping my hands from looking like old lady hands in this winter weather.

One tip: be sure to really beat the vaseline well before adding the other ingredients and then really mix all the ingredients well. I ended up with the last bit of lotion having vaseline clumps. I just put it in the empty vaseline container and put it on my nightstand to rub on my feet before bed. It works for me, but I wouldn't want the vaseline clumps in any I gave as gifts.
