I just found this thread too! I'm amazed at how many Manitobans there are!
It's going to take some time to browse through all the information in this thread but I'm sure I will find out about some online shopping spots that I didn't know about before.
I share in everyone's frustration around where to get things at and the residual costs to shopping online. I've almost given up looking at sites and getting all excited just to find out that it's not Canadian friendly or just simply cost prohibitive.
The craft stores here, and Michaels are a huge disappointment. I'm tired of driving across the city to get something wonderful that I read about online just to hear them tell me "we don't carry that either". It drives me insane!
I go to the states 2 or 3 times a year and top of my list is always to find a craft store where I can get all this really neat stuff!
I'm wondering if it would be possible to start a thread that's information only for links for us Canadians and stores to visit? It might make it easier than sifting through several hundred posts to find that information? Just a thought.

Wow - it's been great reading all this - and I do mean ALL!
I think we should keep this thread going too. It's nice to know we're all going through a lot of the same things. I support my local SU! demo (she's also a coworker) a fair bit, find things in our $ stores, but don't shop Michael's unless it's a great sale or with a coupon...their prices are terrible!
Anyway...I started another thread in the 'Get It Together' forum. Anyone in Victoria want to get together? Nikkii, how about you?
Hope to hear from you soon!

Me too! I am in Leduc, Alberta. I always feel so mystified by how large this "internet world" is and how small I am sitting at my desk reading about other peoples lives on-line. Nice to meet other Canadians!!
Cheers!

Hey anyone know what a water mark is. I am new to all of this uploading cards and stuff. I think that it is the ghost mark signature that is on so many cards....why do I want a water mark? can't I get one for free? How do I put it onto my card after I get one?
wow Tnewhook... I didn't think anyone would know williamswood let alone know someone who lives here... It appears as we are very lucky to be so close to lots of stores. I guess HRM isn't as bad as I thought... aren't you getting a Michael's near the new walmart? Not that it's that great I never find the deals everyone else does.
Are there many from NS on here?
Hey all, another Edmontonian here! Incidentally smallpigpig has organized an Edmonton Stamping Extravaganza for SCSers in the Edmonton & surrounding area check it out in the Get Together forum:
As for watermarks, yes that's the ghost image in the picture. I think many people use photoshop or similar to design them themselves, but I do know there have been a few threads about them recently for people who don't want to design them.
Hi Mrs. Lil' Monster - There are a few of us from NS on here. I've been joining many of the swaps Kelly H-W hosts as I can just drop of the cards to her in Dartmouth and then pick them up when they are ready.
I hadn't heard anything about a Michael's near us although I'd love to have one. I know there is a new one being built in Dartmouth Crossing - actually if you look in the phone book, Michael's has 2 phone numbers listed - I assume the second one is for the new store that's not opened yet.

I have been hearing those lucky gals talking about how some of the U.S. Michaels are getting in new cuttlebug dies and embossing folders. Has anyone up here spied any new cuttlebug goodies in their Michaels yet?
You can check with Sheila at scrappingreatdeals.com
She said they have ordered in some new folders. Their shipping is very reasonable! She answers your email questions very quickly too.
Thanks Deb, I actually did email Sheila at scrappingreatdeals.com on the 17th... but I haven't heard back from her yet. I guess I'll just have to be more patient. :o
Welcome all those who have found this thread i started..it's so good to meet you all.
Sheila from scrappinggreatdeals.is just wonderful to work with.
She has a great store and keeps you up to date w/all her specials.

Just tell me the time and place and I will try to make lunch (new baby due April 30th and I went two weeks over last time). Would love to meet everyone. Isn't there a space about getting together on SCS somewhere?
Hope to see you soon.

Batgirl, I couldn't even find the target mailboxes here in Michigan! I know it is frustrating when someone talks about good deals of the "latest" trend and you can't find it anywhere! I thought the same thing about "CHA"convention! I just found out what that was (Crafts and Hobbies Association) and I don't think we have that around here. As a matter of fact I just saw the 1.00 acrylic stamps here in Michaels last week. Weren't they out west about 4 months ago!! (or maybe it is just my shopping skills!) I think having a forum for people it pertains to is a great idea. I almost thought about trying to contact Michigan people. Good luck to you!

Any ladies who would like to meet in Halifax for lunch in May please PM with the following info:
Best date and time for you
Place you would like to eat or type of food
Hi everyone! I am in Saskatchewan and have ordered both from www.scrapbooking.ca & from Sheila. I was wondering if any of you have ordered the Marvy Uchida Clever Lever scalloped punches (ovals & circles) that are all the rage. If so, where did you order from?
HELLO!!! Where has my head been? I'm Carol mom of two soon to be three and living in the big stink of Toronto. I am also a monthly driver to Buffalo and I hit the AC Moore, Michaels and the Joanne's superstore. Sick but it's worth the drive more often than not.
I don't mind so much shopping online, but I'm too dang impatient to wait for them to get to me. I just ordered from an online US store and it was shipped on the 19th of April and I'm still waiting.......sigh.......I'm a need it now kind of girl.
My DL (a woman with many hats!) and I are both from Wpg too!! I have another DL that isn't an SCS'er (GASP -the horror!!)

Hi everyone. I'm from Innisfail Alberta. I hear you all loud and clear when you say you hear about all the great stuff in the US and can't find it here -- nothing seems to come to the Michaels in Red Deer. I did however, finally find some of those large closepins to alter -- and they were on sale.
Question -- does anyone out there know where I can buy House Mouse stamps from a Canadian online store??

You'll find Flin Flon on the left hand side (it's on the Sask-MB. border) in the centre...and Selkirk is just north of Winnipeg (bottom, middle).
I've seen pictures of Flin Flon, and it looks lovely...trees and lakes.
Avonlea, I used to live in Selkirk (on Queen and then on Nelson). I used to be a cake decorator at Upper Crust about 10 years ago. Where is the craft store? Is it on the one-way part of Manitoba? There used to be a craft store there, I used to get my cross stitch stuff there. Can't remember the name of it though. 2 really grumpy ladies used to work there (don't miss them LOL).
DH works for Manitoba Hydro and has to go to Selkirk for safety meetings once a month, he HAS to stop by UC and buy buns on the way home!!!! He's not allowed to leave town without them.
mouth watering here..hubby n i were just in Selkirk friday..went for a boat-ride.are we crazy or what..lol..i was bundled up like an eskimo and the water was so choppy..we just got the boat last month..and now that he got it all fixed up..he justa had to try it out..lol...will have to try the uppercrust..sounds yummy..loves ya
