just curious.... are we any closer to getting a Cdn forum? I guess I'm thinking that if there already is one for Cdn Demos, can we not also get one for the rest of us?
Greeetings from Whitby, Ontario (just outside Toronto) !!!!
I am sooooo excited to have an area to 'chat' with my Canadian 'sisters'!!!.....I've tried 3 times to join the Stampin' Up Demo Site here (followed all the directions but all 3 times weeks went by and nothing ever came of it....I kept checking to see if I had been accepted but 'nothing') I've pretty much given up now.......

I don't believe there will be a 'Canadians-only' forum. I'm not a Demo, but as I understand it, it makes sense to have a US & Canadians Demo forum so they can help each other out with business ideas, etc.
If there were to be a Canadians forum, then would we need to have an Americans forum, Europeans Forum, etc? What if then people requested an Ontarians or Albertans only forum?
I like the way we're helping each other out in this thread. And as a Canadian, I know I'm super-sensitive as to whether I can find products locally or nationally vs through the US. Also, sometimes when Canadians post, they will say they're looking for a Canadian source, cuz let's face it, there ain't a shortage of American sources. Hehehe. Also, when someone's looking for somethin, I always look to see if they specified where they are located. If they're Canadian, then I'll try to offer some Cdn. suggestions.
Oh, and I've bookmarked some great suggestions for online Cdn. stores, thanks to people's suggestions here.
.:Cris:.
PS If you sometimes get annoyed by the latest Target or Joanns or Archivers find, don't forget that a lot of our American friends don't live near those stores, either. In fact, maybe some of us are closer to a Target than they are. ;)

I'm a Canadian living in Spokane, Washington and we have two Target stores in our city - neither one of them carried the little mailboxes that everyone was talking about. I could relate to how all the Canadian across the border were feeling!!!! Ugh!!!
Sitting on the other side of the fence - how I envy you to be able to buy french SU stamps. I end up waiting for them to go on sale on ebay and we won't talk about the prices they go for.
The fun part about this site is that we are all able to connect somehow, somewhere and this makes this site so incredible.
I would LOVE a Canadian forum! When it comes to trading, the trade value is in USD so, we pay Cdn, trade US, both ways, it costs us more. Will there ever be a break for us?
T he problem i have also..is the fact..say in the s/t/s..only to go into the post and find it's amer. having to keep clicking on threads to find a cnd. one.
Also the name game..amer's may call sumthin totally the same as what we are looking for .only by a diff. name..try explainin that when u in a store lookin for said item!!!.
Guess we will just have to be happy keeping this thread going..stayin in touch w/our fellow canucks and keeping everyone posted as to sites, where to find items(by cnd. name) etc....It's nice that a lot of u have been exchanging sites for others to find things that are looking for.
I know myself i have found acouple of things i been searching for and it help from from here.
thx..loves ya all

Hello from Alberta- I am 2 hours east of Edmonton - almost no stamping stores here - would like to know more online stores that ship to Canada, so yes to a Canadian forum

I have a list of Canadian retailers >>>> click the link
Just now found this thread and am thrilled! I am a transplanted Canadian (originally from the US, but married a Cdn). We are currently living in Toronto Ontario. I am still going through withdrawals of being able to go a short distance and actually find a stamp store or Michaels! Everything in this city is so far apart!
I will make some time to go through the rest of the thread to catch up! Glad to be here!
Ann

I have a brother-in-law living about 2 hours east of Edmonton....have you ever heard of a little place called Derwent?
Waving to fellow Torontonian! I agree - everything is WAY too far apart (especially if you don't have a car!). I visit my parents in Ottawa fairly regularly and get my Mike's fix then. There was a LSS not too far from me, but it closed & moved about a month after I found it :( What part of GTA are you in?
Hi guys! Just checking in as it has been a while. love the list of great Canadian shopping sites! I doubt we'll be getting a Canadian forum but why could we not just start a BST Canada thread? I've been doing a ton of spring cleaning in my stamp drawers! I was thinking of listing it on my blog as well.
Wow so many more who have been answering this thread..it's so great to meet you all..didn't suzy do an awsome job of the cnd. retailers etc.?
it sure helps..

Stampingnewbie _ I Live about 20 mins south east of Vermilion, which is south of Derwent.
I've heard of Vermillion. Rick goes there quite often. He also goes to a place called Myrnham (sp?). Sounds like a beautiful area. He likes it much better than living in Calgary. We hope to get the chance to visit him.

Gail...where do you live in MB? We're in Brandon and hoping that it's not going to snow today!
Wow, Gail, sounds like you had an interesting weekend. I had a truck fire once too, although I was sitting in it at the time. It is absolutely amazing how quickly they can go up in flames!!! Glad to hear the damage was contained to your vehicle only and nobody got hurt!
Hey if you guys in Manitoba are in for what we had yesterday (weather wise) you are in for some wet snow! It is almost gone though here today & we are hoping for some double digit weather over the next few days!
cheers ladies & let's hope spring gets here fast I have lots of training to do!
Linda
Some of you think you have it bad! Try being in the middle of BC and 6 hours away from any decent retailer! I have become an Ebay freak and my bank account is groaning from it because everything is in other currencies! Oh well I am still managing to stamp happily in my own little speck of the world. Thanks for reading my vent! LOL I think we have our own little forum right here!

Actually, I do understand where you're coming from. I live in Mackenzie so it's even further north than where you live. We head to Michaels in Grande Prairie every now and then. In Prince George there's a few good places as well. I agree though, it's frustrating being so far away from being able to hop in the car and go get something right when you "need" it.

Hi Gail! *waving*
Sorry I just got this message now...
Who is your aunt in Neepawa? My SIL is from there!
It is very much a small, small world! I would love to get together sometime, even if it's just for coffee or something!

Hello all you Canadians! I'm from a small city just west of Edmonton, Alberta. Check out my link about making unsigned/unaddressed cards for our military to send home to their family. If you're interested in contributing, PM me. I'd be glad to get you the info. I know the U.S. SCSers have been doing this for a long time; would you like to help with the Canuck side? Right now I have 264 in my possession to send off. I would love to keep supplying them with more (the organization I'm helping with have collected 4,500 already, but have a goal of 50,000).
Wow Just found this thread... have been stuck in the demo area and just made it out into the real world. I am in Williamswood NS part of Halifax but not really the city. I too would love a Canadian only site so I don't feel so bad when I go to WalMart and pay twice as much or can't find what everyone is talking about. I may have skipped some of the messages in between so will go back and read them.
Happy to meet everyone and see what's going on above the 49th parallel.
