Does anyone know if this is a light cardstock or paper. I am looking to use it for overlays. On sale for 50 sheets. $1.99? I can't tell by the description.
I always make white cardstock bases, and then adhere my card fronts to it. I like the Joann's paper, and also like the Recollections brand cardstock that Michaels sells in packs of colors. I have been very happy with both, but I don't use it for the base of my cards.

I purchased a few packs last time it was that price. I thought the same thing, that if it was too light weight for cards I would use it for mats and overlays and die cutting. The colors are pretty - I have used a few sheets. But I just keep going back to my Bazzill, I just like the feel and weight of it so much better.
What pound weight is the cardstock at Stampin Up?
I am looking for 80lb or greater cardstock paper packs. All I can find in this weight is the white packs at Walmart. They are great for card bases.
Stampin up colored cardstock is very good quality 80 lb. It is excellent for card bases and overlays. Whisper White is not as heavy. I do not like it for the base card, but is great for overlays & punching. I looked into Joanne's value pack because of the price. I can use this for overlays where I do not have to match the SU colors.
Forgot to mention price for SU cardstock. 8 1/2 x 11 - a pack of 24 sheets is $6.95. A pack of 12 x 12 - 12 sheets is $5.95. I find these prices very reasonable.

You'll like the SU cardstock. Love the weight of it and it folds well for card bases. Some heavy cardstock that I've tried tends to be brittle at the fold, but the SU cardstock has performed very well. Both the Whisper White and Very Vanilla aren't as heavy. SU also carries Naturals Ivory and Naturals White (pack of 40 for $7.50). Now that Confetti White is retired, I'll have to try the Naturals and see how it fares for card bases. I have a small sample of the Naturals Ivory and it does feel heavier like the colored SU cardstock.
I don't like the Joann's paper it's just too thin. I prefer the Georgia Pacific Cardstock for card bases and it's about 4 dollars for a pretty big pack.
I like a heavy card base for my white or vanilla. And I want it to be really bright white. So I use Neenah Classic Crest in Solar white. Good brightness, and spectacular weight. It never has a "cracking" problem on the fold, but then I ALWAYS score my folds. It is 110 pound weight and then I have it in 80 pound for layers.
For color bases and layers I use SU. Unless of course I need a particular color that I can't get in SU paper...then I just get individual sheets at Joanns or HobbyLobby. I'm in that position today. I need a clear darkish purple for grad cards and will have to go get some today.
I've ordered these in the past, but didn't know about this sale. Now, I'm out some money because this is a terrific value. I'm not a colorist, but wish I were. These color combination ideas are interesting and helpful. I had Desert, Heritage, and Victoria in the past but I just got some of the brighter combinations. I do use these as card bases because I find when I layer on the front and inside they're firm enough.
