its thanksgiving morning and i've already been shopping...
It's too early to put the turkey in the oven, so I decided to check out JoAnns.com. They have all the sizzix - including the Big Shot Pro that i've had my eyes on - at 50% off!!!
So - my Christmas list has been taken care of!!! I got the pro for $199 and a few of the large dies!!!!
DH saw that the police scanner that he saw at Radio Shack a few weeks ago is half off - so it looks like I'll be taking a trip there this weekend. And I may just have to check out Michaels tonight - they are open and have a 30% off everything (including sale items) coupon!
It's very sad that the retailer are now opening on Thanksgiving, and Christmas, and Easter. I feel so sorry for the people that have to work them, instead of being home with their families.
If you spend $75 it is free shipping and the code is WGF338 at Joann.com. I just used it thanks to everyone here that talked about the big shot. I just ordered on for $49.99. Now hope someone will help me when I have allot of questions.

JoAnns has free shipping on $50 with code AP349. There is also one for a $35 order (didn't write it down), but since I was ordering a Big Shot, I saved the the other code for later.

It is unfortunate, but a lot of careers involve working outside of the typical M-F/9-5 days/hours (doctors, nurses, hotels, restaurants, snow plow operators, etc.). Think of it from the other perspective. It is an excellent opportunity for retailers to gain business from a big part of the population that works a typical M-F/9-5 job on a day they wouldn't normally have time to shop. Also, with the availability to shop online 24-7, this is another way for brick and mortar stores to claim back some of that business. The majority of people who work retail and other service oriented jobs know the hours aren't standard going in.
I'm from Nova Scotia, Canada, and we've only had Sunday shopping for a few years and it was a big controversy when it was introduced. Most retail stores here don't open voluntarily on the big holidays but they have the legal right to do so. Many of us would love to see Black Friday types of sales here but it just doesn't happen.
I know what you mean NancyK, I had plenty of time this morning to get food fixed. All of the salads and vegtables, dressing and bread, potaotes did not take long to fix so I was wandering the house all morning. Now I am as stuffed as a turkey, my company has gone home and I either take a nap or stamp.................... I will come and play with your new sizzix one of these days!!

In many cases people actually want to work. They usually get at least time and a half plus holiday pay. My friend's husband works for Toysrus and about 75% of their employees said they would work today, they actually had to tell people they didn't need them. There are also many people who either don't have family to spend the day with, don't really do anything special other than dinner for Thanksgiving or don't want to spend the day with them.
JoAnns has free shipping today~ no minimum...... code FS329. Some of the SIzzix dies were unavailable, but I ordered some other items with the free shipping.
