I am thinking of unmounting my stamps but was wondering if there was a way to put the image on the stamp. I was planning on storing them in CD cases, with an image there some how but was concerned about the actual stamps and knowing what they are. thanks for any ideas.
You could stamp with stazon on the cases. That way you would know what you have and where it needs to go when you are done using it.
For my SU stamps, I have been putting the label on the cd case instead of stamping onto the case.

It's a lot more work but I
1.cut out the rubber (if needed)
2.put the image sticker on the foam, trim if needed,
3.use Crystal Effects to glue the stamp sticker side down) on cling on vinyl (Sunday international http://www.sundayint.com) letting it dry completely (overnight)
4.cut out the stamp.
The stamp now has four layers: rubber, foam, image sticker, and vinyl.
The cling on vinyl will then stick to acrylic blocks. Sometimes if vinyl isn't sticky it may be because of dirt or dust, Usually a cleaning on the scrub pad and it is good as new. If it still doesn't stick sometimes I use a touch of repositional tape and it's all good to go.
It definitely is more work than bare rubber (but I still much prefer it!).
1-stamp image on plain paper
2-cut out stamped image and run it through Xyron upside down so image side gets adhesive (or use wide double-sided tape)
3-apply rubber to double-sided adhesive cushion foam
4-Trim foam and stamp.
5-attach paper image to the back of the foam/rubber stamp
6-the old method used vinyl cling here, but I now use the clear plastic like you get with product packaging (same as the Stampin' Up "boxes"). I attach the stamp to the plastic and leave a 1/2" rim around the edges. The stamp now has an image on the back and the rim serves as a handle so it can be handled much like a wood-mounted stamp, but it still is thin enough for storage in a CD case or similar. One disadvantage is that the irregular border means using a stamp positioner requires extra effort.
I trim and collect all this packaging plastic now and find I have way more than I need for the job.

Then before I lift off the stamp, I take a ball point pen and make a couple of little lines on the edge of the rubber, and run it down to the edge of the foam. (Kinda hard to explain.. pm me if you don't understand and I'll try to explain it better). Then I flip the stamp and the cling foam over, peel back the paper on the sticky side of the foam, and match up the little lines I just made. Then I trim, and voila', a perfect image on the cling side of the foam. Then I just stick it to the inside of the CD Case. LOVE this method!
... Yeah, yeah, it's few more steps, but SO worth it in the long run, especially if you're "placement" challenged like I am.
Am I understanding you are stamping with StazOn on the EZMount cling side?
Yes, exactly. Then I add the little ball point pen marks, so I can line it all up when I flip it over. It assures I have the image lined up perfectly when I stick it to the sticky side.

This is the basic idea of what I do too. I love having the index on the EZMount.
I put the image sticker right onto the gray foam (lined up as perfectly as I can) then I use Tack-it-over-and-over glue on the back (really light layer) and let it dry, then use the 'stick it to your hand' method and put it in my CD case.. Voila, I can see through perfectly to the image, and it costs practiacally nothing!
