That's horrible - I am so sorry for you !! Can you cancel the payment, or report it somehow? Maybe do a return or report them... I don't know to who, but I'd be furious !!!

well i emailed them that is they didnt give me the shipping price the quotted i would cancel my order and that i could get how hey got $66 for shipping even to canada is cheaper for tehm to ship to me that me to ship to them nad its mainly alcohol inks so its a preetty light package.
Thats just crazy .I heard that when they ship to us canadians they do charge an arm and a leg.. but still get ahold of them and get it corrected that is just insane good luck
Good gravy! That's outrageous - even to ship to Canada! I've read several threads about Frugalities and their shipping experiences have been the same - not what they were quoted! Many of them emailed but never got a response. I'd call them right away.
Good luck - not sure what will happen since they say that they are NOT shipping to Canada at this time according to their website... let us know what happens!
I understand your frustration, however, your very best recourse is always to contact the company directly and express your concern.
In fairness to them, I'd extend them an opportunity to work through any problems I bring to their attention through direct contact, before taking any further action.
Most companies are genuinely interested in customer satisfaction and eager to resolve any problems, if you communicate directly with them.
Best wishes for a successful resolution.

well hopefully they check there email cuz i cant find teh phone #. seriously it wouldnt be so bad except it was charged to my moms CC, she bought teh AI for me cuz my brother likes using them as well aqnd i cant afford to pay the $16 a pack at M's. im trying to calm down but its pretty hard.
I would contact the company also ... but I did read in another thread that they do not suggest shipping anywhere out of the US due to the high cost ... I really dont know how they can come up with THAT kind of shipping price, as I've bought TONS of things online and have never paid shipping like that ... but I think that they dont want to bother with Canadian/international customers and filling out all the paperwork (even though there really isnt much paperwork to fill out). At least that's the impression I got from the other thread a while back. I would definitely hope that they check their email also. Let us know how this works out for you, please.

That really really sucks. Thats why I tend to stick to Canadian companies like paper pretties and Artchix studio. But I know sometimes you just WANT to order from somewhere else. That is really ridiculous though. I sent a HUGE parcel to my friend in NYC and it only cost me 20 dollars.

I'm surprised the order even went through because according to their Help page, they aren't shipping to Canada, Internationally or APO/FPO addresses. Looks like each item was charged a $6.99 shipping fee. $55.95/8 items.
To ME, if they aren't shipping to Canada, then your order shouldn't have been processed. As a new customer to Frugalities, how would YOU know they don't ship to Canada?? I don't always read the Help pages. Do you still have the order confirmation email that shows your shipping should have only been $12? Maybe you can use that to dispute the charge with your credit card company.

OMGoodness I have often thought about buying from there....apparently not anymore. I am hoping you get this resozled that is a little bit pricey for shipping...I have shipping huge packages as I used to sell on Ebay and it never came to that much!
You might try the phone number listed on Addicted to Rubber Stamps - they share the same physical address so they might be willing to help you out. As everyone else has stated, that shipping charge is outrageous. Your items could easily ship via First Class International mail to Canada as the weight limit is 4 lbs or a flat rate box which would still be less.
As someone else pointed out, give them a chance to make it right. They do say satisfaction guaranteed so hopefully that extends to customer service as well as standing behind their products.
I would bet that it's a mistake. Even if you are in Canada, it shouldn't cost that much. I'm sure if you call them directly it can be corrected and then you can come back here and tell us how wonderful the customer service person was and that you highly reccommend them! LOL! (Have to look for the positive!)
I hope it all works out.
Hugs,
Gina K.

There's another thread that Frugalities.com has comment on regarding why they are not shipping internationally during their sale. Here's the link: Forums at Splitcoaststampers
Once the price war is over, they will resume shipping internationally. (Well, I guess they still are shipping internationally, but not offering combined shipping.)
Quote:
We have been asked a number of times about international shipping and why it has been suspended during this Price War.
As you have noted we're offering unheard-of savings: Up to 49% off retail. This is below the wholesale price that some dealers pay. This is only possible by cutting every expense to the bone. And, let me be clear: discounts at this Price War level are not sustainable. Even we cannot continue indefinitely at these levels. We are offering these discounts to respond to competition, not to make a profit.
Our orders are filled using a warehouse which we share. All warehouses have their busy days and their light days. On light days they usually have too much labor. Rather than letting the time go to waste, we purchase it at a discount. That lets us lower our costs and we can lower our prices.
One reason that our normal shipping takes 5~10 business days is that we must hold orders until there is a day when there is extra labor that we can buy at a lower cost. Then, we start filling orders. Paying the $2.99 rush fee brings your order up to the top of the queue, and sometimes we must pay a higher labor cost to get these orders out in 1~3 days.
The warehouse we use is specially certified and is integrated into the US Postal Service operation. In the past, our staff actually helped process US Mail while USPS contract staff would assist with our orders. Because of this tight integration the warehouse saves up to two days of processing time in shipping orders. Our parcels bypass much of the pre-screening and sortation that parcels delivered to a Post Office must go through. If you have ordered from our sister company, ATRS, you may have noted how much more quickly your orders arrive than from the competition. It is because our operation bypasses many of the front-end work at the Post Office.
International parcels are specially processed within the US Post Office. They not only have customs paperwork, but they go through special security screening. They also have a process called "Manifesting" which is quite time consuming and complicated. In our warehouse the Manifesting is done by us, rather than the US Post Office. We pre-sort international parcels, and we specially containerize them into a shipping igloo called an "OTR." All of this requires that the warehouse be specially certified.
To consumers APO/FPO parcels look like they are domestic mail. But they are actually treated as international mail within the Post Office. They require customs paperwork. They require manifesting. They must be specially security screened. (After all, we don't want military aircraft to be compromised by a package sent through the mail.) APO/FPO parcels actually go into separate OTR igloos. The shipping rate, while called "domestic" is the same as if the parcel were shipped from Miami to Fairbanks...it's a special Zone 8 rate. It always costs more than our average domestic shipping price. We lose money on every one.
During the Price War we are seeing a tremendous increase in the number of orders, as you can imagine. We have a limited amount of surplus warehouse time available. Because international orders require so much time and paperwork we decided to suspend them. This gives us tremendous savings. We don't need to sort the parcels. We don't need to manually fill out customs paperwork. We don't need separate OTR containers. We don't need special security screening. And we don't need to do end-of-day Manifesting. This saves hours and hours of time. Most importantly, we don't subsidize the VERY expensive APO/FPO shipping. (We can't subsidize it, since there is no profit left in the sale for this subsidy.)
Our decision to suspend international shipments (including APO/FPO) has nothing to do with not being patriotic. It has everything to do with cutting every expense possible so that we can offer the deepest discounts possible. APO/FPO and international parcels are time consuming. Shipping even ONE of these during a day means we must do Manifesting paperwork for that entire day.
So we mean no offense to our Canadian friends (my relatives are Canadian) or to those who are engaged in their own war overseas. Our war is a domestic one, and we are out to demonstrate that we can offer the lowest prices anywhere. Wal-Mart does not beat our prices. Target does not beat our prices. A.C. Moore does not beat our prices. And, it is pointless for them to try. We will beat them every single time. People don't fill out our "price match" guarantee because we already beat everybody's prices on everything we sell. In addition, during this Price War we beat our own prices by yet another 20%.
Enjoy the Price War. It will end without notice some day. Until then, our goal is to demonstrate that we are the most efficient craft store in the world.
Thanks for your understanding.

I just rec'd this from Frug CS
At the time that you placed your order we posted quite conspicuously that Frugalities is not a cost effective option for Canadian customers. This was in our help files, and prominently displayed next to the $55.95 shipping charge that you specifically clicked on.
We hoped that customers would read and NOT choose to ship parcels internationally. A single parcel on a day requires that we do extensive paperwork and manifesting. It costs us over $100 to do this for the day...which is why we set the price to be so high that we thought nobody would choose it. It's a bad deal for you...it's a worse deal for us. We didn't cover our costs.
Had you just noticed when the order confirmation was sent to you (that was the third notice of the charges you saw) we could have still canceled the order.
As of this week we have found a way to simply disable allowing any international customer from ordering.

And For the Record it NEVER said that shipping would be $55 so i guess i will just pay mom the extra money taht it cost to ship and just learn from my mistake. From now on i will only order from canadian friendly sites, even ATRS' shipping isnt this bad and they are sister sites
Personally I think it's BS they charge you for all their "extra hard work" to package our stuff. No other company does that! And if you do a search hard enough on the net you can find some sites with cheap prices like theirs. Thats why I never have nor never will prder from this company!

OMG!!!! You would think with shipping cost like that, that Canada would be on another planet!!!! I think that their 'explanation' to you with why their shipping costs are so high is a load of bull...I mean, what do they do? Ship the products to a 3rd world country, around the earth a couple of times and then ship it to you? I would be raising a major gripe with them, call the company and insist that they do something to rectify the situation - like send you a complete break down of how they come up with those costs to begin with!! - Good luck to you!
well i told my parents about this and we just sent this email. so we will see what the morning brings.
To Whom It May Concern:
This is in regards to your email telling my daughter Chelsey that the shipping would be $55.95 on her order with you. When she checked out her order at your store it said Shipping would be $12-$15, this is what we authorized the purchase at. $55.95 is EXTREMLEY excessive and we did not authorize this amount. This is a case of fraud and unless we hear from you that you intend to credit our MC $35 before 10 am we will contacting our Master card and cancelling our payment. This is completely unethical, no one can justify spending $55 in shipping on as small a package as this. Word will get around of your excessive shipping charges.
We hope to hear from you tomorrow morning, Wes and Karen Navratil
I am not in Canada, but Arizona. I have shipped things to Canada and they are full of crap. The USPS even has a flat rate international rate that I think is about 18.00. Not sure how much you ordered if it would have fit in that box. Also, it really costs about the same to ship to Canada if only shipped parcel. The only "extra" work is the custom forms which takes about 5-10 minutes tops!! I would call again and talk to someone else. Then ask for a supervisor if you don't get the answer you want. Good Luck!
well, i don't want to add to the fire...but it cost $25 to ship to HI so i think that $55 is not a mistake.
I guess it would all depend on weight and size of box. They measure width, height, length now to determine costs. Unusually large boxes are more. Flat rate in the states in a flat rate box is 8.95. Of course mailed stuff would have to fit to get that rate!
