I know what you mean, but if I see that a card of mine has been "favorited" I count that as a comment! I'm very old school in that I do everything with a desktop computer, so I would think that those using smart phones and tablets would also appreciate a more modern and faster way to recognize someone's work here on SCS.
.
I think SCS should start providing a like button or thumbs up button.
Neat idea!
I have to say that I look in the gallery every day and I DO post comments. I know that many on here who post the work accept a "favored" just as much as a comment. If I put a card into my favorites I usually make a comment as well.
I truly appreciate everyone that posts there work and gives me (us) inspiration. Thank-you to all of you creative people for sharing your beautiful work. I do appreciate it! ;)
I try to make as many comments as I can on as many projects as I can..time permitting. I also appreciate the time it takes for someone to comment on my little projects and a favour is almost as good as the written word.
I think SCS should start providing a like button or thumbs up button.
♥ LOVE ♥ this idea. I have something like this called "Reactions" on the bottom of my blog posts where people can check various boxes as to what their response is if they don't have time to make a comment. I think it would be great to have something like this on SCS.
I still comment as much as I can here on SCS because I know how nice it feels to see an email notification of a comment after I have uploaded a card. I wonder if it is partly because people can just "Pin" a card they like to Pinterest and move on to the next card (?). I put a little query in the SCS Feedback and Suggestions forum as to whether we could have a little thing added to the "Pin it" button as to the number of times a card has been "Pinned" so that the original cardmaker knows that it has been pinned and how many times. I have seen on blogs where someone has a "Pin it" button on their posts but also a counter alongside so the blogger knows how many times their post has been pinned.
Too bad there isn't a way for recent uploads to appear on the forum page, changing out like the adverts do. The forum is where people spend the vast majority of their time. Then you could be on the forum and a recently posted card could catch your eye.
I know, this is a complicated and probably impossible thing to implement. But I can dream, can't I?
I do agree with those who feel that being favorited is as much of an uplift as a comment.
One thing you can do is subscribe to someone's uploads. Then you get an email whenever they post a new card with a link to the card. So you can just go right to it and see what they are up to and comment or favorite if you like.

I comment on cards as often as I can. But to be honest I rarely go in and look at comments on my cards. I do them more for fun then to get any reactions. Most times when I upload its for a challenge.
I do love looking through the gallery for inspiration, and usually have a specific theme or holiday in mind when I do.
I nearly always post the cards I make in my gallery. I keep them in a pictures file in my computer, but after losing some data when my old computer failed, I like having them in the gallery, too.
Like everyone has said, comments are really nice, and I appreciate it when people take the time to favorite or comment.
But this thread made me think how much our internet use has changed since I started posting at SCS.
We now have Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, and who knows what else that I don't even know about. If you factor in all that, plus the fact that folks have jobs and families, I can understand that comments in the gallery have slowed down.
We have smart phones so we can stay connected with more and more places on the internet at all times. I'm a golden oldie, and don't use my cell phone much, but so many people are on their phones all the time, texting and looking at stuff. I think many must be suffering from electronic overload, and taking the time to type out a comment just isn't at the top of the list.

I try to comment on a few every day...and honestly, I tend to comment on ones that haven't had any comments yet. I wish it were easier to comment and easier to load a card. I think if it were easier, people would comment more....maybe instead of having wait for the comment to load and then it goes back to the same card if it were to go back to the gallery where you were at the time....
I have said the same thing. I check every day and leave comments. I even did a pay it forward thread suggesting that we leave some love and pay it forward. I don't believe I got any responses on that thread. I love looking at everyone's art and love to leave comments.

Yes, you are so right. When I started at SCS, there weren't as many blogs either but even I have a blog! And there are so many bloggers who are on Design Teams too so some of the original bloggers that I still follow, don't even upload here to SCS anymore which I am sure is the lack of time which is fair enough.
There weren't nearly as many Design Teams 4-1/2 years ago when I joined SCS but now there is an explosion of companies that not only have DTs, but they have blogs, post about new releases on Facebook and many have joined Pinterest. Even though I am techno-savvy and for the most part, embrace new technology, I still only use my cell phone for emergency. It is easy to become over-stimulated with all that is out there to see - and my experience is that I am far more creative if I limit what I look at it - otherwise I go to my Craft Room and my brain is fuzzy and I just see to fiddle around and nothing works. Less stimulation = more creation
I was noticing this very thing the other day when I was looking for inspiration for my Lovely as a Tree set. Some cards had been viewed literally hundreds of times and favorite by many as well and maybe a couple comments? I found that sad. I try to comment whenever I get a chance to look in the gallery. I have a small gallery on another site and it always makes me happy to see that someone has taken a moment to let me know their thoughts.
Thank you Nancy for this gentle reminder. I need to put more comments in daily. Since I don't post cards anymore, I'm not on as much as I use to be. But I still am on daily and could certainly do a better job There are many wonderful creations waiting for some love!
I try like most of you to leave a comment. Especially on every thumbnail I click on I try to leave a little love as to why it caught my eye. I know I love receiving a comment so I feel like I need to leave one. It really doesn't take that long to share some love.

I'm now feeling very guilty. I used to go into the gallery and leave comments fairly often. Now I realize it's been quite awhile since I've done so. Shame on me. I usually prefer to leave comments on cards that have very few (or zero) comments. I ALWAYS leave a comment on any card I favorite. Thanks for the reminder, Nancy. :-)
I used to comment , quite a bit...especially when I did a challenge card
I also used to "chat" more on a few threads
But now, I am here on SCS less often...which makes no sense, because I love it here! I blame Facebook! LOL I should really step away from Words with Friends more often ;)
So...thanks for the nudge!
I am on my way to the gallery... to be inspired...and to thank people for inspiring me!

There used to be a gallery comment thread and that was really fun. You would leave 2 comments in the gallery of the person above your post and the next person would leave 2 comments in your gallery and so on. What ever happened to that thread?

Sounds like fun!

I agree that with blogs and design teams etc there is so much 'other' stuff we are doing but I make it a rule if anyone leaves a comment in my gallery I automatically go to theirs and do likewise. If they don't have a gallery I sent a pm to thank them for the comment. It takes time but after all..they took the time to validate my work.
