Question i'm having problems finding things/ideas on here!!!!

i've only been a member here for about 2 weeks now and i'm having problems already finding things. i'm a new SU demostrator as well. i joined SU in feb.
i have my first party next weekend and have no idea what to do. all i have is the starter kit supplies. i also have earth elements paper as well. it's very hard to do something when u don't have much to work with. i was told to come here for help and i'm still not use to this site and where to find things. i have looked at some gallery pictures not many though.

just to get some help this is what i have:

brillant blue
green galore

loads of love
heartfelt thanks
itty bitty background
polka dots & paisley
mostly flowers

Hi! Have you clicked on the gallery at the top right and checked out the samples for Heartfelt Thanks? I know there are a TON of cards for that set, and lots for the others you have also. Also, scroll down the gallery til you get to technique spotlight for lots of different samples of techniques. Also Anything BUT a card has loads of ideas for projects that are, well, not cards. LOL

I am not a demo, but get tons of ideas from here. You can print them out...just be sure to print only about 2 pages, or you get all the comments.

Wish I could direct you more, but I am headed out the door to my friend's (and demo) house for the day... we are stamping all day!

I will check tonight to see if you found better help! Lots of luck in your first party. I hope you do VERY well!

Sue

Go to the Gallery and click on stamp sets K-N, for example, for your Loads of Love stamp set. Pick a card that you like and look at the details for it. You can always change the colors to fit what you have. If you are having beginning stampers at your party, even the simplest cards will appeal to them, so you don't need to have all the extra details. I'm not a demonstrator and I'm new to the site too, but can try to help. I've been stamping for a little over a year and love SU!

You can also go to the Stampin Up website and the have templates under the new demo area to tell you how to plan a workshop and templates of what you can make using the starter kit.

I'm a new demo too. You need to joint the demo forum on this site. It really helps a lot. Let me know if you need help. In the meantime, talk to the demo who recruted you, and spend some time on the SU! site. They really have a lot of resources. Send me a personal message if you need more help.

My suggestion would be to look at each of threads for the each of your stamp sets in the Gallery and choose one simple card idea for each set. Don't let all the fancy embellishments overwhelm you. The people at your class will be newbies so KISS! You'll be wanting to take sample cards with so it's important to time yourself to indicate how long it will take people to make the cards.

The fact that you have few supplies to work with is good. You have more supplies than the people attending your class, so you'll be showing them what you can do with basic supplies and chances are your sales will reflect that because they'll be focusing on foundation supplies for them to start with. I've found although friends are impressed with the fancy punches, embossing and glitter etc, when they add up how much those supplies are, they end up buying nothing and forget they need to start out by buying the paper, ink and a simple stamp set first - which is exactly what you have to show them next week.

One of the first classes I attended the demo showed the card we'd be making and then provided us each with different coloured card pieces from Earth Elements. We all ooooed and awwwwed at each other's colour combinations but it also gave us an idea how to use the same idea but with the different colours. At the end the demo confessed she had run out of paper and didn't have enough of the same colours for everyone to have the same card, but it worked and was impressive. Every person who attended that class ordered a package of Earth Elements paper and some inks because of it - even the people who swore they weren't going to buy anything. I just wished I had thought to take a photo of the cards.

Good luck with your choices and have fun. Let us know what you chose!

sorry, I forgot to mention . . .

- this is the "forum" or message board part of the website, the card examples are found in the "gallery" section.

- from the top of your screen, click on "gallery"
