Well, since joining a mere 4 days ago, or so, my pocketbook has taken a serious punch. It's all y'alls fault for provinding the many many links to so many cool things. I'm now convinced I have an addictive personality and everything I see is a MUST HAVE!!
My husband calls it crack for crafters. I have a feeling he might be right!
I thought I was doing really good with simple card making. But now I've been introduced to the unique and wonderful world of stamping! I'm now the proud owner of over $300 worth of brand new stamps and inks and sexy papers! I'm giving serious consideration to Panhandling as a second career. I read in the paper about a year ago that there is a fellow here in town who manages to earn in excess of $30,000 a year just panhandling!! Just think of all the new goodies I could buy with that!! Like brayers, and xyron machines, and Cuttlebug stuff, and more stamps!!
I've seen serveral references to people calling themselves enablers. My husband calls you pimps! ROFL
I need to find a way to disable the 'click here' functionality of my computer or it won't be long before I recruit my kids to panhandle on my behalf as well. LOL

Wenchie, WELCOME! You will love it here. You and your husband are hilarious! "Crack for Crafters" and "Pimps" instead of enablers -- I fear these terms will catch on! So many of us have the same problem.
Only 4 days? Welcome to scs and welcome to the "click here to see whats new and great and you must have it" club! SCS is such a great place, with so many people with so much talent! Those "enabler alerts" will really drain your funds, so unless your ready to buy, buy, buy, don't even look at them!
I feel your pain! Last year my LSS closed and I had no place to go really to get my creativity going but I really didn't want to give up stamping. Then I found SCS! This site has so many wonderful people and ideas. Well, it got me really pumped again and I've found awesome new products to try. I could add up the stamps I've purchased since I joined in October but I have a feeling that would be way too scary!
Wenchie, you are downright hilarious (and totally right!)! My husband doesn't 'get it' either. I had something totally exciting happen to me on Friday that is stamping related and he was totally unimpressed. Now if I could find a way to turn this into a money making experience, that might change his mind. So far, I haven't found that way.
Welcome wenchie. Oh I love the "crack for crafters" .......I'm sure that will catch on. I hardy ever go to a LSS, I have a SU demo and this site to enable me to just shop at home on the net. You will like it here.
Welcome, Wenchie! The longer you're here, the more time there is to enable! ;) If you figure out how to disable the "click here" buttons, please share!!! LOL!! ;)
Here I am, standing right next to Dawn admitting to my crafting weakness LOL
You ladies are a riot! I love the humor that seems to just be everywhere!! LOL @ the dealer!! That's funny!
This is funny . . . . my husband has taken over my craft room because my REAL computer is in there and it crashed last week so he's reinstalling XP for me. I asked him about my 'click here' issue and he said . . . . . . "Just get some control woman!!" rofl I didn't feel the love even a little bit. So . . . I asked him for his credit card instead. He's playing hard to get.

And, you're in very good company with many of us. My house is bulging with crafting/stamping supplies, papers, and tools, tools, tools... all I can say is ENJOY!!!!
Location: prolly in my 'rubber room'... in the mid-west

Gee that looks so bad in writing. I must say that my dh says that all in jest. He's just happy that I'm happy and having fun. I really meant the saying above as funny. Hope I didn't offend anyone.

Well, I took it in the context in which it was intended. My brother in law is a hugger. He hugs everyone!! Hence . . . he's been affectionately named "The Hug Slut".

I freely admit I get insanely jealous of the folks who are able to buy every cool thing out there. I feel sorry for myself because I don't have ANY cuttlebug dies or embossing folders, scalloped punches, ATG tape thingie, papertrey stamps, crop-a-dial, Michael's $1 stamps, stamps from the SU Spring mini (SO want the doodle sets!), or anything new and fun. WAAAAAAH! I wanna be wealthy!!!!!

I'd be willing to bet we all feel this way sometimes. There's always somebody out there with "more stuff". If you follow a lot of these threads, you know that along with the "stuff" comes guilt, pressure, family squabbles, etc. Sometimes less is more.
Yep, you aren't alone in feeling like everyone has more gadgets, etc. I feel that too sometimes, when I see all the cuttlebug cards surfacing. But then I see what I do have and think that three years ago, I had 1 stamp set, one pad of ink, one roller, stamp and ink cartridge, and some rather icky CS from a large chain store... and a rubbermade tote to put it in!
Well, I don't have a lot of cool stuff either. I have loads of embellishments and only thanks to the Dollarama. I love that store!! I only recently picked up a Cuttlebug but I don't have many dies or templates. They're stupidly expensive at the Michaels store, so I wait for the sales and try to choose wisely (the term wise being completely subjective LOL). I only recently got stamps . . . like yesterday! I did have a few that I picked up at the dollar store, but never really used them. Again, I waited for a sale and tried to select ones I thought would get used the most as opposed to the ones I REALLY liked.
So, don't worry about what you don't have so much as finding ways to optimize what you do have. I bet you'll be surprised what you can come up with!
I improvise where I can, for example the ever popular Paper Lace templates. I print them on paper then use them as my template instead of actually buying them. Same thing with Paper Piercing. If it doesn't make sense to spend money on a template, then why bother? Just print it! Seems to work well enough. If I could carve my own stamps and make my own ink I probably would LOL

Welcome Wenchie,
I saw you were already on the comment thread. That ones fun. Not to be an enabler but you should trach down a Stampin' Up! demonstrator in your area. Check out the website www.stampinup.com to do that. Lots of great product and great ideas. And I'm not just saying that because I'm a demo myself .
And funny you should talk about the $$$. I just posted a thread (A sarcastic thanks) to all the people that inspire me, but not with ideas, they inspire shopping lists.
Lastly I hope you have fun here. I know I have a great time learning, chatting and wasting time.

I realize I'm a couple days late on this, but I am so with all of you. I joined a couple years back, but for some unknown reason didn't check in regularly. Now that I have been checking in regularly for the past couple months, my wish list has grown way too long. I but stuff, but the list keeps growing. I am SOOOO glad there's a tax refund on the way. Too bad it's pretty much all spent...sorry DH. I had to feed my addiction. I'm trying, really I am. I'm just not succeeding too well at overcoming it. I think that's b/c I don't want to...overcome the addiction that is. It's just way too much fun!
Welcome Wenchie. I love the "crack for crafters" from your DH. My DH refers to my SU demo as my "dealer". You will probably find as many of us did that you will soon be bursting at the seams and need a larger stamping area.
I am trying to convince my DH that I need him to add a room onto our house and he isn't being very agreeable on that idea.
