I'm so excited that some of you have decided to take the plunge and become a Fan Club Member!!! If for no other reason than to support the website it is well worth the investment !!! But I promise.....you will not regret it !!! I know that some of you have said you're wondering if the cards done by the Dirty Dozen are easily CASED.....I would say that about 90% of them are and any time you need help... the Dirty Dozen are there to help. You know when you look at a card in a magazine and you try to reproduce it....you can't call the publisher and ask them to contact the artist to get more instructions....WELL at the Fan Club you can do exactly that !!! It far surpasses ANY magazine subscription that you could ever buy !!!
Often we will compare the $25 Fan Club donation to a magazine subscription. But I have NEVER seen a magazine that will offer to give you ALL of their back issues FREE.
The Fan Club/Dirty Dozen Gallery goes all the way back to July of 2004 and contains over 3,000 pictures. On top of that there is the Fan Club Forum where the patterns/templates/techniques are posted.
Okay, I'm not a Fan Club member (yet), but this post made me think, "aren't some stamping magazines $25 EACH?" I know I've seen some for at least $22.50 CAD.
It does seem like a good deal, and I WILL be signing up.

But are these fan club cards do-able by the average stamper? By the sounds of things, these sacred grouping of cards sound like they would be extremely hard to make, and if so its not somthing I am interested in. nice to look at yes, but if its waaay out of my range its of no help to me. so my question is, are the Cards in the fan club gallery able to be made by your average stamper? or just ones that have been doing it for many many years? are there a ton of steps and supplies needed? the description of the club is pretty vague.
Judy and others with this same concern/question:
I use the DD gallery as the ultimate personal challenge. When I want to stretch my creativity, I take the theme for a particular month and run with it in my personal stamping, using the ideas as inspiration. My stuff may not be as ornate and detailed as some of theirs, but it fits within the theme just the same. I also use it to inspire myself to go that extra step or two. I tend to stop before adding that extra drop of pizazz thinkinng 'oh, that's too much' then I think, no, if the DD can do that, I can certainly do this...I'm by no means at their level, but I'm working slowly at a personal best.
I can honestly say my best work has come from those times when I've sat and used this process. Of course, do I post it, no, cuz I'm a freak about not posting CASED stuff from the DD gallery. I want you ALL to subscribe!!
As far as needing a bunch of extra supplies, it seems like these girls have a special knack for getting more from less...that's the impressive part!
I use SCS so much as a social and creative tool that for me not to support it financially is something I can't do...the DD gallery is a bonus and well worth it..
Take the plunge! You won't be sorry!
I wanna be! Just waiting to hear back from someone about something I asked in Site Suggestions spot ... Once they do, I'm totally signing up! This site is awesome. I love all the resources available and I'm willing to support them. I wonder what's in those other hidden galleries ...
Is there lots of variation in the styles, or, because it's the DDG and there's a theme, is it all quite similar in style?
There is always a theme, but, as each of the designers is different in their approach towards the theme, I think it safe to say that there is a balanced variety of different styles represented.

Each member has their own style, I think. Although a lot of times I feel like I don't have a style, 'cause I'm too busy trying out different styles! I like them all, I guess. I would be bored with just one. I think the gallery usually has something for everyone.
One thing that I would like to add..........even though I have a website (which has become horribly neglected since SCS), I always considered the fact that SCS provides webspace to upload my creations to which I normally would have to pay for. I think $25 a year is more than a fair price for webspace to put our pictures in. If you look at it this way, the DD is all bonus.

Hmmm... and as a variation on that, I'm sure my bf would say that it's worth it just because it provides validation for me that he doesn't need to!!

LOL So far, I've only been able to look at a couple cards in the most recent gallery, but even my 5 year old daughter commented on how pretty the cards were!! Especially StamperSharon's ribbon/acetate card! ;)
Thanks SOO much -- I "saw" you there! You're very kind!
Another question -- if I want to pay by cheque via snail mail, and I'm in Canada, can I send a Canadian cheque in Canadian $$??
I'm Canadian, and I find PayPal is so much easier! When I joined, with the exchange rate, it was 29.00. Is there any reason you do not want to pay via PayPal?

Just cuz I've had a bad experience with it in the past.
