If anyone wants to trade for UK chocolate I would be more than willing LOL!!!!!!!!!
Where in UK do you live? We visit my husband's family near Chester/Liverpool once a year or so. Our next trip will be in the fall - if you (or any other UK folk) are near there, I could bring some over for you :-) They'd have to go in checked luggage and I'm not sure if duties would need to be paid or not, but we could talk about the possibilities...

maybe i should have negotiated for something more than chocolate! like free airline tickets to england! hey, i could then deliver the stamp! sounds good to me. how about you, barbara?
Sidetrack to the thread-I went to visit my friend in England and brought back the biggest Cadbury bar I could find in the airport. I think it weighed about 5 pounds. MMMMMmmmmmm. So good!
I would be happy to trade for chocolate!
Ronda
We bought one of those HUGE Cadbury's in the airport at Heathrow in January. Between my DH and I it was eaten before we even flew over Ireland on our way home, it was THAT GOOD! YUM... England chocolates!
Now where do I start? It might be quicker to state what I didn't want. The thing I love most about SU, that frustrates me about every other company, is that everything matches. The cardstock matches the inks, matches the eyelets etc. etc.
The sets I would love are
Canvas
Furnished With Love
Holiday Print
In the Wild
Love Ya Bunches
Lovely As A Tree
Out of This World
Paisley Print
Paris in the Spring
Simply Sweet
Something to Celebrate
Little Engines
Summer Bythe Sea
Watercolor Garden I & II
Wonderful Words
Stipple Celebrations
Wonderful Wings
Dance Sketches
That would be my first order and that is without the markers, ink pads and cardstock I would need.
Barbara, we must sort out our shopping trip soon!
Did you realise you only live about 20 miles away from me!
I'm in Herne Bay, Fancy meeting up sometime?
Michelle if you'd like I can send you some chocolate.
Alyson sorry I am at the other end of the country from Chester/Liverpool
Thanks for reading this post
Barbara
Hi Barbara,
You are so lucky to live in Herne Bay, that is our favourite destination to go for a walk on a Sunday. WE love walking along the prom.
Do you fancy meeting up and going to Oyster Stamps in Whitstable. I haven't been there for ages since they put in the scrapbooking stuff. I can't make next week but how about the week after.
Hmm... what would I buy? I'd buy the STARTER KIT!!!! That's what I'd buy - I'm sooooooooo desperate to become an SU demonstrator!
Can't list the stamp sets as it changes daily, but I'd really like the markers, ALL the ink pads and ALL the cardstock. Couple of albums... ALL the eyelets... lots of grosgrain ... oh, and ALL the gingham ribbons. Just about everything really.
I have around 80 sets already, over the years I have built a nice collection, lots are retired so I would need a whole load of non retired ones. All the inks, markers, cardstock and accessories mostly as I do have lots of the stamps already.
I'm in Surrey so not really near any of you which is a shame.
My one worry IF they do come here is the prices, I wonder how they will be? Seeing that the pound is so strong against the $
I completely agree Caz. Look at the prices of Hero Arts stamps over here compared to US. WE seem to pay the same price in s as US stampers do in $.
It does seem like SU are more ethical and really seem to care about their customers more than other companies so we might be lucky.
Where in Surrey are you? I was born in Kingston Hospital and my mum is from Molesey, although I was brought up in Wales, so I feel Welsh.
Surrey is not too far! I sometimes visit Creative Pastimes, that shop is gorgeous, if not a little expensive. (Please don't say you work there, I will be mortified ).
Maybe we could organise a meet up at some where like Creative Pastimes or The Craft Barn
Surrey is not that far away really, Ally I don't mind driving as long as you can Navigate!

I've noticed the same thing, though not for stamping supplies specifically. If a hairdryer here in the US is $15 it will be 15 in England, same for all other consumer goods and fees. It means our trips to England are inevitably expensive - good thing we have relatives to stay with ;-)
The other thing it means, though, that I don't think my husband's family realize, is that whenever anyone asks us to chip in on a gift ("we're all going to chip in 50 - send it to brother John") it effectively costs us twice as much as any of them since 50~$100 yet $100 has the same buying power in the US as 100 does in England... And when we take trips together (we rented a huge house in the Lake District last year), our "equal" contribution effectively costs us twice their share PLUS we have to pay airfare to get there...
We've really made an effort to keep in touch - we've traveled there every 1-2 years since we were married (oh, and our 1991 marriage was there, too, since my family was smaller). In the 14 years we've been married we've had 7 visits from his parents (one visit a year since the birth of our first child six years ago, one visit in the previous eight years) and one visit from his sister (he has 4 brothers and a sister) - that's it. My parents are also 3000 miles away and we visit them once a year, too, so it seems all our trips are traveling to see his folks or mine... I'm glad everyone is still alive for us to visit, I know everyone is not so lucky to have such an abundance of family, but I wish they'd visit us so we could use our vacation time for a non-family-related vacation!
Alyson, a bit whiny after shelling out $400 for two 100 contributions to two nieces' 21st birthdays - I could have bought lots of stamps for that ;-)
Mmmmm....UK chocolate! I'm in Belfast in 2 1/2 weeks and dying for a Bounty Ice Cream bar (unfortunately you can't send me one of those) and a Toffee Crisp! Not visiting England this time (since I'm leaving DH at home)
You are all making me really homesick, I live here in Canada Kelowna BC and moved here from Preston Lancashire 5 years ago...I miss chocolate of course and meat and potatoe pies...mmm just a distant memory now. At least I have StampinUp and a great hubby.
If anyone wants chocolate you have at least 3 willing people here to trade!!
As for meeting up, that would be great. Craft Barn has more stamps, Creative pastimes is just a lovely place! and sorry but yes I do actually work at both!! LOL I teach classes at both of them, or though more recently at Creative Pastimes.(2 classes this past Saturday)
I think SU look after their people just great, I was wondering about how their signups were treated but understand they dont just sign you up and leave you there, they have a great monthly magazine that the demos get that give them ideas, techniques ect, incentives for reaching goals ect. I would be SO excited for them to come here. Excellent support via your upline or on the phone. I for one would be so excited to sign up and create a great downline of people. It would mean I would have to give my chicken shack business up, but I really think it would be worth it.
I was thinking last night in bed, how about we make Shelli a card using SU stuff, pleading her to come to the UK? I think it would be great if we all sent them in one envelope, I wouldnt mind co-ordinating it. What do you think?
Caz

Great idea! But don't you think it would have more impact if she got lots of different envelopes from different parts of the UK? We could set a posting date so that they all arrived at roughly the same time? Otherwise she might think there's just one group of friends in one part of England that have all got together to send the cards (or that one person has made them all!). We want her to know that the interest is widespread! I can do this and get all my stamping chums to do it too. Just let me know the plan and count me in!

Morning ladies.
Just had to pop in and say hello after reading all the posts from England. I am from Norfolk but have been here in Utah for 21 years. I have family in Whistable and my Grandparents owned the Old Rectory in Ickham. Would love to chat sometime.....Vicky
I'm an SU Demo. in New Jersey but originally from St Albans in Hertfordshire! We make it back to the UK at least once a year, me armed with stamps, ink and cardstock for one of my best friends and also my MIL who are both into stamping now!!
My DH just got back from a business trip to the UK, sent him to Marks & Spencers and Sainsburys!! 300 tea bags and a case load of chocolate!! I love those tunnocks caramel wafers (and they now do them in dark chocolate!) and Black Magic!! Also he discovered Cadburys do a wafer bar now - oooh, I sound so sad don't I!!
Not that my life evolves around chocolate but it helps me get by!!
We are over in the UK this summer, and I have sets to sell/trade and spare catalogs - let me know we can always arrange something!!
Hi Linda
That is very kind of you. I am interested in seeing a list... can you PM it to me? Lets hope we have a summer for you when you come over, its raining and grey here today :( Great stamping weather, if only my 2 year old would let me
I would be interested in the list too. Maybe we could all meet up when you come to England. St Albans is a little bit of a trek, but maybe we could meet up somewhere more central, Bluewater or Lakeside maybe?
Linda have you ever been to Bluewater? It is a new shopping mall on the outskirts of London. It is awful for craft shops, only has one, but it is great for lunch.
I love the idea of a card to Shelli, would definitely be up for that. Maybe we should do the ugliest cards possible and plead to her artistic sensibilities about how poor our selection of stamps is;)
Love your cards in Cardmaking and Papercraft this month too. You are so talented.
Definitely up for meeting at Creative Pastimes. How did I know I would put my foot in my mouth? It is the most gorgeous shop to visit though.
I'd be happy to drive, I have satellite navigation, thank God. It is so useful, especially for somewhere like Creative Pastimes which is built in a field in the middle of nowhere. How anyone finds it without satnav, I'll never know!

Les
Les,
Funny how different people love different things. I love Bounty but hate Bounty ice cream and I don't really like Toffee Crisps, that is one of my dh's favourites. I prefer Ripples, I don't like things in my chocolate, just like chocolate and lots of it
Maybe we could organise a meet up at some where like Creative Pastimes or The Craft Barn

Barbara
Barbara,
I didn't notice your signature. Everyone at my son's school kill themselves laughing because I turn up to pick my son up sparkling.
I've stopped using glitter now coz I end up with it in my mouth and it feels like eating a piece of foil, my teeth are too sensitive.
I love the idea of a card to Shelli, would definitely be up for that. Maybe we should do the ugliest cards possible and plead to her artistic sensibilities about how poor our selection of stamps is;)

Ha ha Ally re the card, thats a great idea re an ugly card, but maybe she'll think ARGH cant possibly send my stamps to that country!! LOL
Aw thanks for the compliment re my cards, thats very sweet of you, I dont feel talented ;) just very lucky to be given the chance to share. I today just finished some cards for the mag, crayon resist and I am really pleased with the cards, some of them are really not "me" and I am pleased with them the most.
We need to sort a date out then, are we thinking a Saturday? or weekday?
Perhaps we need to post a message re SPLITCOAST STAMPERS SOUTH EAST MEETING and see how many others we can get to come along? and do name tags like they do on here, although it will probably just be us three?
Definitely up for it. Weekend would work best for me, as then hubby can have son and won't have to get back to pick him up from school.
I think Barbara would be up for it too.
OK with that it will be a Saturday (they are closed sundays) I could go for 7th May, 28th May, or in June they have a big demo weekend, 25th & 26th June, I will be demoing so I cant "meet" you as such, but you can come and say "hello" or if you come over near lunch time I am sure I can grab half hour break. I expect it will be mega busy that weekend. There are other people demoing like Julie Hickey and Kim Reygate to name just 2.
I work a lot of weekends with classes, demos and my club. Or you could even make a day of it, come to my club, then we can all go to Creative Pastimes after? my club is each 3rd saturday of the month and you wouldnt have to pay! my treat.....
I will be in Kent the weekend of May 7th and 8th with DH. After that we head to Maidenhead for his work for the week. I lived in Cookham, Berks for 2.5 years about 5 years ago and LOVED it. IT was before kids so I taught at Furze Platt Infant School and had a great time. I will be loading my suitcase with Cadbury's whole nut bars and Sainsbury's tea. Also plan to hit Laura Ashley as ours closed. When we live there we traveled a ton and I remeber visiting Whistable. I remember a stamp store in Taplow on the A4 and the one in London but that was about it. I just signed up to be a demo and am waiting on my kit. Just wanted to say HELLO!
xo
Noddy
Hi Noddy
Cadburys is the best, whole nut my fav and I love Sainsburys tea as well, my hubbys parents have moved to Spain, they take back that tea when they come over
Have a great time when you come over> Hope the weather improves from what we have at the moment, cloudy, drizzly and not very warm. Funny, I am sat here polishing off a bar of Whole Nut, weird huh!
Caz,
Love the idea of a stamping club, could I bring a friend too as it is her birthday on 24th, happy to pay for her and me.
Can't make weekend of 7th and 8th. It is Luke's sixth birthday and we are having a party for him at Diggerland, he is so excited and so are the fathers of half of his friends. Funny how all the dads want to come to this party and none of the others.
