Cool Ideas needed for Sock party invites

My best friend has just purchased a new home and wants to have a "socks only" party. She asked me to design the invites but I am having trouble coming up with good ideas. I would love it if anyone has a couple they could throw out, I am getting desperate!

Many thanks,
Kathy

Ok, so I am curious the goal of the socks only party. Is it just that everyone takes their shoes off as they come in the house?

Yep, she just spent 900k on this new house and she doesn't want anyones shoes messing up her new floors. So we are trying to make something cute but to the point.

So, is it a housewarming party? And your friend wants to make sure people take their shoes off when they enter (or that they expect to not wear shoes while they're there)?

She expects them to take their shoes off at the door and she is going to hold a contest for the most outrageous socks.

Do you have any sock stamps? I think SU! makes some or used to. Some of the Christmas stockings might work too. Or if you have any shoe stamps you could put a shoe in a circle with a line through it - No Shoes Allowed! You could also tell people to wear their favorite pair of socks and then have a contest for the best pair and give little prizes out. The homeowner(s) could be the judges!

This is an interesting concept...AFAIK, it's normal to take your shoes off when you go to someone's house - at least, it is where I live. I'm sure some people where I live do leave their shoes on but even when a hostess has people over and says "Don't worry about it, leave your shoes on" people still say "Don't be silly" and they kick them off. Of course our weather is not the greatest in most seasons so maybe that has something to do with it. Guess I'd have to have a "Leave your shoes on" party!

Could you make an invitation in the shape of something foot-related rather than an actual sock? Do the invite in the shape of a foot file or other pedicure implement or like a mock Dr. Scholl's (sp?) foot powder bottle and make the writing on the bottle the wording of the invitation and use the yellow and blue colours of the foot powder bottle...think outside the shoe box!

Maybe my ideas are lame but they might help someone else come up with a better idea.

I think it would be cute to buy a bunch of baby socks and type out the invite on card stock and put it in the sock. I spose if they are being mailed this would be not such a smart idea!

I thought about this last night. How about a "sock hop" theme for the invite? Just a thought.

um.. am I the only one who interpreted "socks only" in a different way?
kind of like the housewarming invite my sister got to the new mc mansion with the UNheated pool open for the brave of heart --dress casual
swimsuits optional.

so there are a LOT of ideas out there
thanks for the giggle.

if there are kids welcome too they could make sock puppets
(and if they are spending all that money you could send soda bottles filled with socks or a sock. prizes could be socks. pedicure things. pumice stone. flip flops(the unsock. TOE socks or whatever the latest seasonal sock would be a christmas stocking pair of panty hose (should be some kind of game with panty hose...

that rolling massage thing for your foot
what kind of foot food could you have?
sock cookie cutters?
or feet maybe?
i bet there is one or the ohter
could be cookies or finger sandwiches or pieces of cheese
or larger for a cheese ball

hey you could use print pattern or the spring one and make ARGYLE!!!
THERE you go
my work here is done

Thanks for all the great ideas! The argyle one I am going to definitely do. I can't wait to share these with the party hostess and see what she thinks.

Thanks again!
