Our school has non-food events. Due to the numbers and types of allergies, the events at school are food-free. I love the melted crayon idea - and am going to find Halloween molds and do this with my kids this year. If we really have fun, this may be what I pass out at the door, too!
Any other non-food, easy to make, low cost ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Barb, Thanks for sharing the cookie ideas! I'm in charge of hospitality for my school this year and have been on the look out for easy and inexpensive ideas. These are perfect!
My sons attend a Lutheran Preschool, and they don't celebrate Halloween. Instead, they have "Noah's Ark Day" and all the kids dress up like animals. Last year for my oldest son's class I made matchbook-style coloring books and stamps animals on each page and gave them to the kids with little boxes of crayons. I figured the parents would probably appreciate not having more candy in the house.
I've done the crayon thing a lot--wish I had thought of it when crayons were on sale for ten cents a box. Oh well. My hubby teaches and their team has a cow theme, so we got some tootsie pops and I'm making some cow print "ghosts" out of coffee filters for his kids this year.
I usually make playdough for my kids' classes (preK and K). I have made orange playdoh (you can add orange unsweetened Kool-Aid packets in the mix for extra scent and color). Then I roll it out about 1/2"-3/4" and cut it out with a cookie cutter and put in indivitual baggies. I lable them so no one thinks it is an edible treat.
This is a fun treat for kids. I purchased bubbles at the dollar store - 3 for $1. So, for less than $10 you could make something for each student in the class.
I bought a dress for valentines day .Its too early now but let it be. Any body have some ideas for valentines day parties.
