Default icky craft pad

I traded with another demo for a Positively Pink (new) craft pad. When I received it and opened it (plastic wrap), it was oily all over. When I opened the pad itself it didn't ink very well. Anyone else have this problem with their craft pads and what did you do?

Thanks!!

P.S. I DO NOT blame the demo at all!!! It was still in the plastic and no way she could have known.

I did get a white craft pad that was like that. I just took a paper towl and kind of smooshed it into the pad. It seemed to help and is working okay now. HTH Melony

??? Was it the "old"/"original" style pad with the canvas cover or a foam kind that they "upgraded" to shortly after releasing them??? Curious as I have the original style ones and was told I can peel off the cover to reveal the foam...
