To start with, I need to provide background details. Last night, as I headed out on my walk, I decided to call my best friend. She lives in Minnesota, I live in Texas. Her sister has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer, something she herself has faced, and I wanted to check in and see how she was holding up. In a strange coincidence, I called at the moment she was reading the results that were sent after her sister's thyroid removal. Her sister had read them and told her everything was good. Unfortunately, she did not understand what she was reading. The results were not good. She has a rare type of thyroid cancer that is always fatal. I'm so glad I decided to call because my friend really needed someone to help her process this information. We were both crying as I know her sister very well. My friend kept saying that she wasn't ready to be the only one left, as her other sister, father, and mother have already passed. It was a very emotional conversation, but later she steered the it in a different direction and I think by the end of the call, she was past the shock. Now, on to the card I need help with.
Financially, I can't afford to fly up to see her right now. So, I've decided I want to make her a very special card, but that is as far as I've gotten. I don't know what to use as a sentiment. I've looked for inspiration, but all that I have seen is directed to the person who has cancer (I intend to make a card for her sister as well). I could really use some advice on what to make. I think I'm in shock myself and my brain is not firing on all cylinders, so any ideas you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

First ((( Big Hugs )))
I am thinking, and I have been poking around inside my evernote file under encouragement and I came across this one from Riley & Co. ( which is a surprise because, most of what I have from them leans towards the snarky humor side) WCW135 Worrying by JBgreendawn at Splitcoaststampers
which I really like but, I am not so sure. now I am second guessing sending you that idea. so, I will say I have a lot of encouragement sentiments from Impression Obsession and Unity Stamps. But, I think most of mine are geared towards the person who is not well rather than the family.
I am halfway thinking maybe do a series of cards? some serious love, hugs & prayers. some snarky black humor depends on your friend and mail them every so often?
I am so sorry for your friends and yourself. That is heartbreaking! I agree with Stacy to send her frequent cards with expressions of love to let her know you are thinking about her. Hugs and Thinking of You are what comes to mind for me also.

Hugs, Miss Bunny.
I found several sentiment stamps that I might use in your situation; hopefully you'll see a few that you like. <3 (Mostly "I'm here for you," and "You are loved," and "You aren't alone," etc.)
A series of cards over time would be appreciated. Trust your instincts and write from the heart.
More calls. Sometimes your friend just needs a loving listener. This is hard work, but sacred work. We are meant to care for each other, as you are already doing.
God bless.
