Hey all! We're moving and I am new to stamping. I need your help!!!!! We are going from a 2800 sq ft home with 4 kiddos to 1400 sq ft with no garage and no attic! I need your stamping storage ideas!
What is the best most efficent way to store paper? stamp pads? ribbons? embellishments? tools? I may not even have a closet space available to store my things in. :( To make matters worse we are going overseas and will not have access to places like Wally World ( Walmart) Target, office supply stores ect. Lots of internet places won't even shop to APO's. So I really need to be prepared BEFORE my things are packed!!!!!!
I am limited on storage too and store my paper in a plastic storage box in file folders- 2 colors per folder. My stamps I keep on a bookshelf. Misc items in plastic storage box as well. I'm still trying to figure out how to store my 12x12 paper.
HTH
My SU! Bus is run out of my closet (also games, extra food, coats can be found in this tiny thing...oh and it is suppose to be our tornado shelter..hahahaha) anyway I store my 12x12 in 12x12 divided portfolio made by Generations, they have handles on them and are found at WalMart, Micheals, Target, etc...WalMart has the cheapest regular price on them about $10. My 8.5x11 cardstock I have in 3 ring bindersin sheet protectors, 1 for each family adn one for speacial paper they then store nice in a bookshelf laying flat. I use my lable maker to label every side of the binder so if it ends up in there wrong I can still see what I am looking at. My stamps are in rolling plastic carts that I have stacked on top of eachother. DH cut wood to help support and eleminate them sagging from the weight. I then have smaller plastic three drawer organizers for all the little stuff. Once again I labeled on the outside what goes in each drawer. Hope this helps.
For a closet or other door get a piece of pegboard and the gadgelts that go with it (if it is a military move buy the pegboard now and have it shipped) I use pegboard for all of my tools and have shelves on it for stamp sets.
Get an extra pack of the holder things and use them for everything! LOL
A shoe bag on tehother side of a door might be good for holding things like punches, envelopes, and other goodies. I agree with mamakimberly that UP is a great wayto envision it.

If you have a Linen n Things store, they have a wall storage system that is pretty cool. I'll try to explain. It is alot like you would see in retail stores like the Gap etc. You screw 12" x 48" slat panels into your wall that you put the accesories on. You can snap together as many panels as you needto get the size you want. They have wire baskets and hooks that work with the wall. Hope that helps. BTW it is $14.99 per 12"x14" slat wall and the hooks and baskets run between 4.99 and 17.99.
I am in the same boat. I currently have my own craft room and we are leaving for Germany this June. Yep, housing will be smaller, I looked at the floor plans and it's either 1100 or 1200 square feet. I have plans to use under my bed for storage and what ever else I may find. I am also having such a hard time deciding what to take since I scrap, stamp, and sew. My dh thinks we will be over our weight limit with all our other stuff too!
Great advice Ladies! Now I need an opinion ( see bottom of post)
hdstamps-I am trying to think ahead for 12x12 as well as 8 1/2x 11.
makimberly- my best tip? don't move to a little house!
Have you ever heard of Leavenworth?
msdetlof- I store my 12x12 in 12x12 divided portfolio made by Generations, I saw those at Michaels and HL today- almost got one with my 40% off coupon. They were 14.99 or 15.99 at Michaels. Glad to know they are cheaper at Wally World.
My 8.5x11 cardstock I have in 3 ring bindersin sheet protectors- I wish I could find a binder that would hold 12x12 and I would just store both sizes together.
Britta-if it is a military move buy the pegboard now and have it shipped- it is and I will have to do it now. No Home Depot in Korea! I saw that thread this am an it looked really nice. But I don't even know if I will have any wall space. Your peg board is at least cheaper if I don't!
neverenuffstamps-Try Ikea I love IKEA too! But.. they won't ship most of their neato stuff and since we don't live on a coast. There is not one near! Bummer!
Luci in AZ- I am also having such a hard time deciding what to take since I scrap, stamp, and sew. My dh thinks we will be over our weight limit with all our other stuff too! My Husband knows we will be over weight unless I jettison about 4, 000 lbs ( 2,000 we were over when we moved our self the last time! Plus 2,000 to be under to be able to bring back things like oriental rugs etc. At least it is easier for me to lose 4,000 lbs of household goods than it has been to lose the last ten lbs from my last pregnancy. And my "baby" is 3 and 1/2! LOL!
Thanks ladies, I will think up. I saw a neat Iris cart today at Office Max
similar to this one but twice as wide with it's own counter top. It had big deep drawers.
I think the Iris with the "granite" top. That way you can use it as a table with a lamp on it or a nightstand or something. You could even use a little velcro and make a skirt for around it and nobody would know! Hide it in plain sight! And I bet you'll find storage stuff in Korea that we don't even know about, since they are already USED to living in tiny space....

12x12 paper storage. I just got rid of my large black paper racks, the ones you see at the stores, and upgraded to Copper Hopper 12x12 plastic paper holders, they are like magazine holders. They are great. My large racks had 24 slots each, and they were packed. I got all my paper into 6 of these Copper Hopper plastic holders. They hold 300 sheets of paper. they are great. Good Luck!
I have the cropper hopper 12 x 12 storage thingy and I have to say don't really like it. It is not sturdy enough to hold the amount of paper I want it to. I notice that they do sell a metal hold for the class tote but it is another $100 by the time you add shipping, so....... :(
I have my stamp stuff in a small walk in closet and up is the only way to go! Peg board and all types of shelves help me utilize this space.
Camsmom's suggestion about using the backs of doors is a good one, also the Iris cart is helpful because it will roll under a desk or table. My best suggestion is to find out if there are more stampers where you are going and ask them, not only what they do about adjusting to the tighter quarters, but also what they have and need--maybe you all could share and stamp together.
