Well It was super hot and muggy today and I was going to possibly be running late to my DnD game, but I really needed to drop off two items at my local Mission thrift store in town. I parked my car then noticed that the drop off area was in the back but I decided "ah what the heck, I'll go see what kind of stamping stuff they have!" I wandered in and wandered around a little bit before I finally found the oh so small craft isle which was largely filled with....well junk. I did notice two sets of stamps though. One was a simple Stampin up set with the basic shapes and another pack had two large stamps, one was a crystal ball of all things and a stamp with two huge bells on it.
Well I grabbed both of those, kind of musing on whether or not I Really wanted the Stampin up set or not since I didn't think I'd really use those particular stamps often. I decided to check and see if they had any 3rd Generation My Little Ponies in the toy section (they did not), and wandered over to the shoes where I finally found a pair of black dress heals that I like (I've been looking for a pair since I wore down the heals of my other ones).
I decided to head back over to the craft section to give it one more look and to put back the Stampin Up stamps. Well in a box down bellow where I found the stamps I struck GOLD! There kinda hidden underneath some other junk were 15 retired Stampin Up ink pads! The older ones that don't flip up, but still! They were all still pretty juicy and marked at 79 cents! Well I'm pretty sure I "squee'ed" and prompty emptied out a near by basket and began to fill it with stamp pads. I bought 14 of them since one was a black stamp pad and I already have several of those. I didn't even look at the colors too closely only as far as to check if there were any duplicates. I tossed them all in a basket, found a couple of other little things and went to check out. The cashier only charged me 59 cents per pad because I bought pretty much all of them.
I'd say this was a pretty awesome day...except that my newly cleaned out drawer from building a stamp pad wrack is now going to be full again! Oh, and I got a free Starbrust Stain from Lindystampgang too in my order! Next week will surely be a super crafting week!
You know what I love about your post? You were on your way to DnD. You had to check for My Little Ponies. I completely understand. There is nothing better than hitting the mother lode at your Thrift store while scouring out geek toys and heading off to game. This is a perfect day for me. OMG! I would have screamed if I found those stamp pads.
Great find! LOL. That happened to my daughter's friend (they both love to stamp) at church in the nursery. She found a Brilliant Blue ink pad, Fabulous phrases stamp set, and a snowflake wheel! They let her have them! Have fun with your goodies.
Doncha just love it when you find something like that at a thrift store?
Last summer, I found a brand new bottle of CTMH's version of crystal effects at a Goodwill in my hometown in FL. A few months ago, I found an NUM (except 1) Totally Cool stamp set at the Goodwill here in Columbus.
Lucky you. I'm so happy for you. My girlfriend always scores big time on-line. She pays next-to-nothing for the expensive stuff. I'm always envious of gals like you.
I constantly watch Craigslist for scrapbooking items. I find people who are giving up the hobby and buy a whole bunch of stuff for a great price, select out what I really want to keep, then turn around and sell the rest on Craigslist again. I have actually made money shopping this way.
Yay! Great score. I still have my white and purple my little pony unicorn I got when I was 16. Thems is some years ago. I'm getting the feeling there's a few gamers on here, cool. I play Wow, it always cracks me up when I see the Wow advertisement on the home page here.
