Hello! I have some clear stamps that are hard to use. I put the ink on and it beads up and when I stamp it, it doesn't look even. Any tips on how to use these clear stamps? Thanks!
It could be that your stamps have a film on them. Take an eraser and rub across the stamp and it should remove the "film" and will stamp much better! I find Memento/Vivid works best with clear stamps. HTH!
The type of ink you are using makes a big difference. If you are using cheaper clear stamps, try a chalk or pigment ink. Higher quality clear stamps will work just fine with dye inks.
The previous poster who suggested cleaning them with an eraser is spot on. It helps all clear stamps stamp more clearly.
Thanks Barb... As stampers we learn something all of the time!

I've also found that if you tap the stamp lightly on Versamark first, then on the dye ink that it sometimes help to get a crisper image.

Also the type of paper you are using may affect how your stamp works. I was using Wal-Mart white cardstock which works fine for my rubber stamps but not my clear stamps. I am using SU Whisper White for them. So probably any better quality paper would help.
Another option is ink like Colorbox Fluid Chalk ink. It gives you an awesome image every time even with the cheapo $1.00 stamps. I have a lot of these..lol
blessings.
If you are stamping an image in black that needs to be colored I only use versafine. I find it gives my clear stamps the crispest image and gets all of the detail.
good luck,
Sandy
Also, it's counterintuitive (at least to me) but try NOT to press too hard when you're stamping with clear stamps. They're softer than rubber, and they'll squoosh a little, which helps keep your image from being as crisp as you want it. Good luck!
