I never could "get it" even with watching lots of videos, tutorials, etc.
Have a Bow Easy now! Just got it, and made the bow on today's card with it.

LOL ... I might just have to try the 'fork' out of curiosity!
BTW, the Bow Easy is 'very' inexpensive. ;)

WEll this is pretty embarassing. I have the Bow Easy and have never been able to figure it out. In my defense, it was given to me without instructions.:confused:

No worry! It looks like a formerly square piece of plastic with a bunch of slots! ;)

Check out this 'how to video'.

I had asked once before in another thread and I never received an answer, so maybe I can ask again. Does anyone know where I can learn how to tie a bow so that the tails are behind the bow? Like on this card:

CAS35 JustRite inspired..... by sparklegirl at Splitcoaststampers

see how the tails are behind the bow.

Here's one of my cards and see how the tail is in front of the bow?

I see the difference but have no clue. In the blog post referenced in the card with the behind-the-tails bow it listed a Bow Easy so perhaps that tool makes bows in this manner?

Insomnia and a DH that snores (could be why i have insomnia :rolleyes. I am thinking of putting it on my wishlist. DH will buy small and inexpensive craft items (he's not cheap - he just knows that I am out of storage space and will not part with any of my stuff. And I don't ask for pricy stuff 'coz then he'll figure out how much I really spend ;)).

There was a You Tube video on different tying techniques and they worked really good. The bow or knot would be flat for mailing. Does anyone know the link to this? I lost it after my computer crash.

I got a bow easy AND a bowadabra. The bowadabra I had to return because it just wasnt working and was difficult to learn. The Bow easy was good once I watched the couple utube videos. It really makes beautiful bows.

I don't think this is the exact one you mean but it may still be helpful:

Default bow easy

OK- I tried to tie the bow easy bow....followed the tutorial.....I get one side that cannot be adjusted- the other side is kind of 'loose' and can be easily pulled and opened if that makes sense- maybe pulled undone is a better way to put it- is that the way your bows turn out???

Just got my Bow Easy today. I am having the same problem as McSchmidty. I am practicing with grosgrain ribbon and in the GinaK video she is using gauzy ribbon but shouldn't it 'work' regardless of what type of ribbon you use? This is why I bought this tool.

As to the question about the tails being in back of the bow, go to www.amazingpapergrace.com. Becca Feeken is truly amazing. She has a video tut on how to tie ribbon. I was hoping the Bow Easy would help at least make presentable bows---

Yes, that is how they are. I have found that they are not a "real" or traditional bow like the kind you tie by hand. That is why you have to do all the tightening on the Bow-easy, not after you remove the bow. I find it easier to tighten- esp with thicker ribbon- by taking my right tail and pull UP, and the left tail and pull DOWN at the same time, instead of pulling in the same direction as the loops. Pull at right angles to the loops. You can really yank it and make it tight. You can always loosen it a bit after you slide it off the Bow-easy. Don't forget that the side you are looking at as you work the bow on the Bow-easy will be the backside of your finished bow, not the front.

Then I arrange my tails and trim them once it is off of the Bow-easy. I have lots of woven ribbon that has a good side, and a bad side, KWIM? So with the Bow-easy, you only see the good side. One of my tails always will try to flip over, so before I tape the bow to my project, I put a little bit of tape on the back of the bow to keep that one tail from flipping over.

Thanks for the Bow Easy tutorials. I just practiced and think I finally have the hang of it. For me, the video tutorial posted above in post #24 was the easiest to follow. Can't believe I almost threw my Bow Easy away.

You must tie a knot first with this cord THEN make the bow.
