Okay, okay......I finally have to jump in on this one. I guess I have to get serious and start my list for my insurance man. I have been stamping since 1987.......need I say more?
I am also a packrat! I just can't bear to swap, trade, or sell stamps that I have. I know the minute I do, it will be the one I NEED!
I may have the kid's college education funds on my wall and in my drawers but look at all the money I HAVE saved.....making all my own cards. And, heaven forbid, that I give a store bought card to ANYONE! They would say......"Hmmmmm, didn't have much thought in this did you?" :?
When you create, and it is your passion, your hobby, it gives you a sense of well-being. So, in effect, it is therapy!! Much cheaper than a shrink!!
So, my new task is to list my items that could so easily burn up. How do you figure the value of a discontinued stamp that is from 1987? Doesn't it start getting into the antique value soon!

Ugh! I'm not sure I want to know what I've spent over the years! A couple of weeks ago my DH told me that I was so lucky that I sold SU because I got the stamps for free!! He said this in front of my DD & DS who almost fell off their chairs because they know the truth.
Wow, I never thought about how much I'd spent. I might need to add a rider to my homeowner's policy to cover them all! You know, like you do for expensive jewelry! :-)
Add the total number of individual stamps you have (including all the freebies and specials). Divide by stamp dollars out the door, and your stamps may not turn out to be free, but certainly cheaper than retail from a big box craft store!
My DH keeps asking why I have so many ink pads---- "but dear, I never buy them without a coupon".
I'm so bad I don't even look at the business part of our taxes....this year I'll have to pay more attention though...<grin>.....I'll have to <gasp> show a profit?!?!? LOL! I know it can be done it's just too hard for me to be disciplined about my SU purchases from myself... I just love it ALL SO MUCH!

Hi All!!
This year was a BIG spending year for me...and my DH saw that when we did taxes...we are still married, so I think that he FINALLY gets it!! I love being a SU demonstrator..it relaxes me, and lets me do what I love!! I am hoping that this year will not be as expensive..but you never know!

There's been some discussion of keeping each other's tallys so DH's don't see them. How about we have an SCS safe-deposit box. We'll keep them there in case of emergency. LOL!
WOW reading all this I'm placing another order....I'm WAY behind!
Seriously though I have only been stampin' for a short while(told my demo this was something that would not interest me,WRONG!) but I have 9 years worth of scrapping supplies and I have gone a little(?) overboard on SU so a tally for the ins. might be a good idea.
I don't have a clue how to do spreadsheets but maybe I could just catalog them and put it in the deposit box. I have all my original pics and negatives already there.
Someone told me they put 1 of every card front they really loved in their box.
The total will probably be very scary!

I am so afraid to even tally up my total......SU alone gets alot, not to mention, ALL the craft and fabric stores...........But I look at it this way
.........IT'S MY THERAPY!!!!

Okay, okay, okay. Move me to the top of the list!! HA HA!! I am both a stamper and scrapper, plus I dabble in beading, painting, quilting, and a few other things. I am NOT a demo, but I do own 72 SU sets, 38 Hero Arts sets, some miscellaneous sets, almost all POSH impressions sets, and approximately 800 single stamps!! Not to mention all the stamp pads and everything else that goes with it, etc, etc, etc!!! You all know what I mean!! My hubby helped me pack up and move all my stuff to the third floor of our house which is now my personal office/craft room and he made a "mental catalogue" of what I have by asking repeatedly "where did you get this?" AND "what is that for" AND "how much did that cost?" and when he was tired of asking he was around $9000.00!!!! AND all of this has been in the last 3 years! (I now have to hide things in my work bag when I come in and put them away quickly!! )

sorry for posting twice but it didn't look like it went through the first time. I noticed several others having problems. What is going on with our BB? It seems to be having a lot of hiccups today. I also had problems posting a PM.

I don't know and I don't want to know  All I tell myself is that my DH's Mustang hobby is way more expensive than mine! I can rationalize myself past the guilt if I think of it that way. I may be bad, but he's worse! :P
I just started stamping in November and I already have around 60 sets and around 12 to 15 wheels. I don't think I really want to know. More yet, I don't think I want my husband to know.
Not to mention all the stamp pads and everything else that goes with it, etc, etc, etc!!! )
That got me thinking......."I wonder how many pads I DO have?" It was embarrassing after it was over 100....plus all the little color box cubes and cat eyes (about 100 of them too).
Why is it that you NEVER seem to have the perfect color?

OK ladies look at it this way. Say if we all weren't addicted to stamping, we'd probally be addicted to something else or in therapy. I rather have a room full of stamping supplys which results in beautiful cards and scrapbook pages, than an empty bottle of liquor which results with a dirty toilet bowl, no matter which end it comes out!!!!
