ok im fast becomming a swap addict...loveing the recipes and cards. i think i have about 15-20 swaps im signed up for from now till july. i wonder what the swapers average amount is.
JUST WONDERING HOW MANY SWAPS ARE YOU SIGNED UP FOR?
I used to average 15-20 a month including the ones I hosted....now (or at least the past 2 months) I try to limit myself to hosting one and participating in one a month so that I am not taking time away from my kids or my business to complete swaps.
I have only ever done 2 swaps in my life and they were both for an ATC swap on here. I don't do swaps for a couple of reasons, 1 - confidence in my ability, 2 - being able to make them on time and 3 - I really hate making more than 1 or 2 of the same card! :(
I just really started getting into swaps. I had joined a few full card swaps but since I'm only a hobby demo, I don't need a bunch of examples to show customers. I'm really into ATC swaps now. I've joined about 10 in the last 2 months.
In the past two months I have completed eight swaps and have four more to go. I need to cut back a bit. I enjoy doing them because I get to try new things but the ones I get back are so pretty and I don't want to send them to anyone else!
do you have a system to keep many swaps organized? i print off all the original post and staple all together with the soonest due on top. then i write DONE, MAILED, & RECEIVED on them as i go...and when they are mailed i put that form on back. what do you do?

I use my Favorites list on MSN. I have a folder called Swaps_open and Swaps_closed. The ones that I am working on and are about to work on are in Swaps_open listed in numerical order. Each entry has a link to the first entry in the swap post on SCS. If needed, I edited the swap thread title to show the name of the swap, mail out date, and number of items to send.
Once I am done with the items for the swap and they are sent in the mail, I move the swap name from the open to the closed folder.
Go to the swaps forum.
I don't do by mail swaps any more because of postage costs. I bring hundreds of swaps to the SU convention each year and also swap at our monthly demo meetings and regionals. But I can remember the excitement of receiving my first swaps in the mail! What fun!

Right now I'm only in 2 and I've yet to complete all my cards....lol. I'm a serious procrastinator, but I better get my booty in shape because I may sign up for more once I complete my 2 I'm currently in. I also swap in my MSN group, but there I have groups of 3 ladies so it's 2 cards with 3 - 4 swaps a month.
since i work fulltime i probably have way too many swaps going...but i cant help myself. i ususally have to plan my projects out in stages where i can pack stuff to do to work and spend downtime coloring or cutting and such. i even have a couple ladies that check with me every week to see what new project im working on. i am really having the best time doing the recipe swaps, they might even encourage me to cook more than i do. i love easy recipes that taste like you have spent hours on them.(picture me throwing flour on myself to look like a kitchen slave)
At the moment I'm signed up for 3 only. I think that's plenty for me to manage at one time. I also use my favorites to keep them organized. I give the favorite a name that matches the swap and the date that I have to have it in the mail for, that way I can quicky zero in on which one is next.
It's a challenge keeping track of 3 swaps ya know LOL

I haven't joined in on a swap yet. I guess that it is the fear that my cards won't be as good as others might want. I don't have a gallery yet for 2 reasons...insecurity and lack or technology. Hmmmm. I'll have to start thinking about this some more.
swaps give you good ideas from the cards you receive and also a chance to try out new techniques. just start with one swap and see how you like it...its loads of fun and like opening presents just for you when the package comes back to you!
