I have been stamping for about 2 years, I have maybe 200 stamps(individual and broken up sets) - I only store my SU and CTMH stamps as sets, I break up all others. I have approx. 8 SU sets and 9 CTMH sets. I am very disciplined about buying only stamps I will use, stamps that are "timeless" , stamps I absolutley LOVE and stamps that are pretty versatile, I rarely buy stamps on a whim. Don't ask me about patterned paper though....lol.

Last summer when our kids were visiting my kids took me by the hand and said, "Mom, you have a problem and you need to admit to it". They made me count my stamps. I had 1400 wood mounted, 200 SU sets, 600 polymer sets, and a box of unmounted waiting to be mounted. So anyway, if you think I listen to my kids that'll be the day, I have bought a lot more this year. I figure, I don't smoke, rarely drink, don't spend a fortune in spas (like my daughter), don't have a cleaning or gardening service - my extravagance is to buy all the rubber stamps I want and I do and will. I don't feel one bit guilty.
I was not trying to make anyone feel bad about there purchasing of stamps. It sure has been interesting reading the responses.I am sure we have had a lot of pleasure using our stamps and other material and buying it ,so keep it up ladies and gentleman.Enjoy.
Someone asked me that a few months back, so I went home and counted. At that time I had 460 wood mounted stamps and around 100 clear stamp sets. I was amazed. Of course, I have bought more since then, but I am not going to count them again. Ignorance is bliss and I am the happiest person that I know.
I have only 15 stamping sets. I tend to buy only what I really really want and need. I have gotten alot of use out of the few sets that I have. Otherwise I prefer to keep my money in my bank account for retirement.
When I saw this topic, my immediate answer was too many, mostly because I have yet to come up with a storage system that allows me to access them easily and still know what I have. I'm working on that. And even that did not stop me from coveting the new PTI sets offered this month. (I was a good girl though and didn't place any order.)

You go girl! This is totally my attitude as well My problem is it isn't JUST stamps...lol...
Anyway, to answer the OP - It would take me way too long to count them all. However, last year due to a flooding threat, I did make an attempt at creating a listing of them... got through my SU sets, but not much farther. But I do know that at that time I had 160 SU sets (and of course have purchased more now, a year later....) at least another 50 unmounted sets from other companies (gina k etc.) and at least 100 acrylic sets. Haven't attempted the singles... many many more of those. You do have me curious now though, so I may have to take a look when I get home
137 SU sets
130+ PTI sets
16 Flourishes sets
9 Waltzing Mouse sets
6 Gina K sets
15 Inkadinkado sets
20 Unity sets
and scads of unmounted or photopolymer sets from various and assorted vendors/companies.
All that in just about 2.5 years. Pretty scary, huh?
I've been a member of the local stamp club about 7 years. Until then I never bought SU. I now couldn't tell you how many I have, but I am to the point I may have to start unmounting some of them for storage. I have one wall of single stamps, wood mounted, in 11 X 14 Acrylic box frames, And then I have no idea how many unmounted red rubber or clear stamps or sets I may have. I'm not sure I would be able to ever get a count on them. I am going to try to start(Again) indexing them as I unmount the SU ones.

Been stamping right at 5 years.....eyeball count of my DVD cabinet that holds my stamps in clamshells puts the count at 200 clamshells ....at least half are SU, the rest are individual stamps stored by theme ( angels, high hopes, wild animals, birds, flowers, Christmas sentiments, Halloween sentiments, Easter sentiments, backgrounds, snowmen, House Mouse,) you get the drift right? Some of the clamshells are the largest ones SU used to carry called jumbo. and my Halloween stamps aren't even in the DVD cabinet as they are in the Halloween box....tonight I sat down and sealed the wood on 22 new stamps of which 4 were a SU set and the rest singles. and I know I have 2 coming in the mail from DRS designs that I just "had" to have. I am planning a "going out of business" sale in January if everything goes right as my tastes and style have changed since I first started buying. so watch the BST forum and you might find some bargains then.

I haven't kept track of my SU & other sets, I just add the number of stamps in the set to my total. Last time I added it was around 1400 and I have several sets that need added to that.
I've just recently started stamping - I have about 5 SU sets (I know, I'm deprived!!), 10-15 or so The Angel Company sets (belong to a hostess club, which is how I got into stamping) and about 10 solo stamps - I've just been buying one here and one there when I can....but I'm working on getting more of a stock on stamps
68 individual wood stamps
48 SU sets
20 other stamps
I stopped buying sentiments when I found a sentiment excel file on here and the RGB list and can print anything I want in a coordinating SU color from my computer!
Okay, so this one got me curious and I woefully underestimated the number of stamps I have by alot, not counting alphabets and counting each stamp in sets, I have about 1500 stamps, with more on the way that I recently ordered. I would cringe at the number, but I have been stamping for over 10 years and the vast majority of my stamps have seen ink at least once, so it doesn't seem that bad .

I have between 60-70 SU sets.
Plus have about 8 acrylic non SU sets, and a dozen or so individual acrylic stamps.. like the little Imaginisce Snag 'Em stamps... and about a half dozen of those $1.50 Michaels' wood mounted stamps.
Some will be sold this year at an lss garage sale.
Great to see everyone getting in the spirit of fun by counting, makes you realize we should increase our contents insurance though does'nt.
I tell myself I keep on buying so when I retire I will have something to do and won't have to buy anymore, when I know that with such great companies out there making stamps I will probably still buy more.
I now, when I buy stamps, give some consideration as to the versility of stamp sets, as I have bought sets before for just one stamp. I also have several, okay, quite a few sets I have never got around to using. hahaha maybe when I retire in 20 years hope the acryrilic holds up as well as rubber.
*deep breath* As best I can tell right now, the count is close to this:
198 Stampin'Up! sets
178 Close to My Heart sets
49 Inkadinkado sets
118 sets from various other companies (Papertrey, TCP, MFT, Verve, etc.)
over 100 of the $1 clear sets
120+ single stamps
All of my stamps are photopolymer (clear) or unmounted, nekkid rubber, so storage is not an issue - everything fits on two DVD racks.
Have all of these stamps seen ink? Why no, no they have not! I've recently begun a major overhaul of my storage/indexing system, though, and I'm already using them more (because I know I have them!) Do I love them all? Why yes, yes I do!!!
Enough to usually do what I want. Not too many that there won't be another I will find to add to my collection.
FWIW, most are SU sets, stored by set. I have also got a big basket of loose stamps - everything from specialized stamps (horses, dogs) I've scored on eBay to $1 stamps from M's. Amazing how often I use those.

Oh, please don't have me count...nor have to admit that, especially in PRINT!? LOL I'd say Sue and I are running close numbers with one another though, if we are counting stamps, not just sets....
Hi Sue!!! (Love Random on Purpose...can't say how many friends I've sent over to check your blog out!!)
I last lost count at over 350 SU! sets, it was just too tiring! That's just the count of my SU! sets (no idea how many stamps that translates into-YIPES)! That "rough" count was from over a year ago, until I located another HUGE box full or MORE stamps that I had set aside until I got the "perfect" shelf for those. Plus I have stamps from when I first started stamping (well over 25+ years ago), and the "others" I've picked up here and there since.
If I had to put an actual number down, LOL, my one sister would say that I REALLY need to get to a support group for Stamp Collectors/Hoarders!!! I HAVE actually given away a tons of stamps over the years too though. : )
If I did an individual count of stamps, I'm way into the thousands....as in oh dear, big sets = 20+ stamps..um, so that would be about 10,000 individual stamps. Doing m math here - 20 stamps per set (so I don't have to count my single stamps, etc) x 500 sets=10,000 stamps! OMGooooooooosh! AND I probably have more than THAT! SCARY!!!!!

A couple of years ago I counted all of mine and had close to 3,000 and of course I've kept adding to that since then. I've stamped for about 12 years and I just CAN'T seem to give any of them up. My husband walled in one of our garage bays for my stamp room. One of my daughters tells people I have my own stamp store at the house. I am fortunate to have all that (no, I'm not rich) and often have friends over to stamp. I share all of my things and we all have such a good time. I keep thinking that I'm going to downsize and I still plan on it.
This thread prompted me to count. Eeeek.. Why did I have to open this thread? I got up to 120-acrylic sets of varying sizes and 130 SU sets. Then I realized I didin't even count my CTMH or misc brands. I better stop while I'm ahead.

8 Kaisercrraft wood mounted stamps
3 American crafts clear set
NONE SU sets lol
1 wood mounted set from Heidi Grace
and i think i need to go shopping after seeing you ladies in the 1000s :-D
This looks fun LOL! As I can see from Barbara Jay's list, the addiction most of us have isn't just stamps but also the embossing folders and die cuts etc.....I really like the idea of making a book with stamped images as an index, Will think about working on an inventory this weekend and get back to you all!
On a side note, how much cardstock and DP are you all hoarding, more or less?
