When making cards ....do you make just one or do you make a few of the same card at a time? Do you make them in different colors/papers etc but use the same layout? If you only make 1 do you take pictures to use for reference for the next time around? Whew so many questions lol.

Hi Terri,
I usually make 4 - 6 of the same card. I don't usually vary the color but I do vary the saying. If I only make one card, yes I do take a picture of it.
Good Luck!
Lisa
I usually make at least 4 cards exactly alike when I have an idea for a card layout. I like to do card fronts with layers and that seems to work out well with the 12 x 12 papers I have. I stamp mostly in the evenings, and I can usually finish 4 cards in a night.
Sometimes I will make the cards all alike, but vary the sentiments inside. I have a couple of birthdays coming in April, so I just made 2 BD cards, and stamped "Thinking of You" inside the other 2.
My stamping spot is a table in my livingroom, and my stamp stuff has to be lugged out from another room and put back when I'm through. I have cats and grandkids who can't be trusted when things are left out. If I take the trouble to get everything out, I always make more than one card.
I always scan my cards into my computer, whether I am uploading them to the gallery or not, so I have a reference of cards I've made.

You know, if I've pulled out a bunch of papers and stamp sets to make a card . . . I might as well make several because the stuff is already out. I like to keep one for my sample box and the others I send to friends, or RAKs or I sell them. I do change each one up just a tiny bit . . . unless I think it is sooooo perfect (rarely) but when that happens, I make them all the same!

I should make more than 1 at a time, but I only make one. I do take pics of them all as I post to my blog almost every day. So I have a folder on ym computer that has all my cards I have made for the past two years.
It depends. Sometimes I will make a batch of similar cards (same stamp set and colors, maybe a different layout or sentiment). Other times I might just make one for a challenge or if I need a card to mail out right away (such as a sympathy card). I take pictures of every card I make (even the ugly ones) and save them on my computer and upload them to my gallery here.
Interesting question! I usually make 6 at a time---all the same. I have just started scanning them, but would love to get a digital camera and learn how to use it---I'm am not handy at techie stuff at all! Embarassing to admit this in today's world! Interesting to read everyone's responses!
I usually make 2-6 of the same design/same color while I have all the stuff out, unless it's a custom card for one particular person. I don't take pictures of all of them; only the ones I really like, or that have a unique layout.
At holiday time, (Christmas, Easter) I will come up with one design and make anywhere from 20 - 80 cards over the course of a couple weeks. I always keep one for my sample file.
I used to make just two of one card and I would make it as needed (i.e. friend's birthday coming up). But I have evolved into making as many as 10 at a time because it's just easier when you have everything out and ready to go to set up an assembly line and make as many as possible. Especially if they can be used for different things...I tend to leave of the sentiment until something comes up.

I make 2 of each card since I am cutting a piece of cardstock in half. I always take pictures of my cards and the "good" ones are posted in my SCS gallery.
I usually make one card and one card only of anything. I've started out trying to make two the same, but they never turn out that way! I take pictures of most of my cards and keep them in my own file. Since I sell most or give them to my MIL it helps to have a picture when people say they want "so and so" made!

Me too!! I keep a photo file on my computer and I only make one!

I usually make one card and scan it, then put it into my book for reference and if I really like it into my gallery. I think I may start making two so I can have some on hand.
I'm a one at a time girl most of the time. The only duplicate cards that I have made in the last year are my Christmas cards that I am doing for the Christmas card challenge.
Wow I can't believe how many people make more than one! I always make just one of each card unless they are Christmas cards. I guess it's just becaues it takes me a lot of time and effort to finish a card just right and then when I'm done... I'm done. I don't want to make another one exactly the same. kwim?
Lately its 2. One for my demo "idea" basket, and one for my sell pile. If I need one for an occasion, I make 2, and the other goes in the basket if it is a current set, in the sell pile if its retired. I really just need to start doing 3-4 at a time!

In the past I've always done an even number of the same card... 2, 4, or 6, since I have to cut the cardstock. But lately I've been strapped for time or just haven't been in the mood to stamp (gasp!) so I've only been making one.
I make a minimum of 12 each with many being 18 or 24 each...for the soldiers, my hubbys desk and the church ministry. I make many of the same design and divide them up. Lots and lots of cards I make...lol
Usually I only make one of a kind, except for holidays. When I make just one I always take a picture of it (and often post it here). Taking a photo and using the name of the recipient in the file name of the photo keeps me from sending similar cards to the same person year after year. If I'm making multiples for a holiday, I make one to keep. Besides using it for inspiration, I can see my techniques improving over the years. I also date my cards on the back when I make them, along with *handmade by aunt mary ann* or a similar phrase.

I usually make 4. Many times I leave the sentiment off so I can stamp the appropriate one when I need a particular type of card. I agree with the poster above--everything is already out, so why not make more than one.
I usually just make one-offs. But I have almost of them scanned and saved going back about 4 years, and sometimes I'l make an almost-copy of something I've made before and really liked. It would be very rare for me to make exactly the same - except for Christmas .

i always make 2 for me and 2 for my mom to do. we have card swaps every week, we do 2 of 6 different cards. sometimes we just make the fronts to save on paper this is so much fun
I almost always make more than one, unless I am in a hurry and then it is one and a picture. I am all about making multiples, and they almost always get used. I also have to pull my stuff out into the living room, so I want to make the most of my time. I don't have the patience yet for posting my cards. I also end up giving sets of cards away, so it's nice to have a big stash of identical cards. (I also work in a factory--all about the assembly-line, mass-production. )
I used to make 4-8 with matching envelopes everytime I made a card. Now because I upload them directly to my blog I almost never make more than one. Of course, if I have one that I think is sooooooo super cute then I will make 4-8 of it.
I usually do 2 of the same, i use photos that i alter with photoshop, and usually do 4 pics to a page, 2 of each different pic. But if one pic really enthuses me i will do more and change the color of the mat or something else.
i usually don't do any sentiment until i either need it for me .as the ones i sell i do as notecards with no inside sentiment at all.
clear as mudd right?
i guess it depends on if you use yours or keep them as artist expressions.
I only do one card the same most of the time myself as well. The only time I make more than one is when I have left overs from my card group and since the pieces are already cut, I can assemble them quickly and put into sets that I place in those terrific clear boxes. When I make just one I often use up the scraps with other designs and layouts making use of some of the same colors and papers. I keep most of my stuff here in my gallery at SCS and some on my blog.
