Easy -- first I would buy the big ticket items like a Big Shot, maybe a Cricut. Then I would place a BIG SU! order then spread the rest around to several LSS and two other direct sales demos/friends. Then I would hit the home improvement store and buy some new digs for my new stuff. Then after stamping and scrappin' up a storm, I would need some more paper and new stuff so the shopping would start again. Like I said, easy. It's all part of a game that I play in my head every day called "When I win the Lotto . . ."

Yep, I could do it...at least for awhile. What I find is that sometimes all the "new" stamps that are coming out look a whole lot like stuff I already have so I stop buying for a long time until a new trend, look, or company comes around. So, I would love to have the money, love to spend it, at least for awhile, and would actually enjoy figuring out where to stash all my new stuff!
I could do this for a week or two maybe, but I don't think I could make a habit of spending that much for very long. There just aren't that many big ticket items I want, and there aren't enough little things I need. I already have plenty of stamps and paper to make more things than I could use for myself or give away, and I'm not interested in making things to sell.
But I bet I could easily spend $25 a week for many weeks straight!
I couldn't do it. After 15+ years of stamping, I can now go into the LSS, Michaels, Hobby Lobby and Joanns and walk out without spending any money. (And that is with having MAD MONEY just burning a hole in my pocket.)
I've reached the same point. I just got a $50 gift card for Michaels and I have no idea what I'll spend it on. I could not maintain spending $150 a week on stuff, not unless I stamped/created 24/7 and burned through a lot of supplies.

Well, considering the fact that my current budget is $15/week, I think I could handle it for awhile ... but I'd feel guilty spending all that money on craft supplies. I don't spend that much on groceries for a month, let alone a week. AND I'm sure it would get "old" after awhile.
I think that with all the new releases all the time that it would be hard to run out of things to buy. However, I do think that after a while you would run out of things to buy.
Well, if I average it out, I spend $50 a week already (ack!!!) so I'd 'only' have to find another $100 worth to buy...I'd definitely get all the Whiff of Joy stuff the second it came out (have most of it already though!), a Bind-It-All (haven't been able to justify it yet, but if I had that much $$ to spend, I'd go for it) a lot of the SU! dies, and, like someone else posted, lots of storage. Would it count if I bought a new computer, since I use mine a lot for stamping-related stuff?
I tried to think of what I'd buy, but after a few hundred dollars of stuff I started thinking of stuff for my friends and such and I guess that's cheating.
WAIT can I combine it with a sewing budget? Because I could get a bunch of sewing stuff, some more classes, have my huge king sized quilt professionally quilted, buy lots of new fabric...
but generally no.
I think I'd like twice my budget. I have $100 a month now. I think $200 a month would be more fun. But I'm pretty happy now.

There is always new stuff coming out so I am sure I could keep up and never run out of stuff to buy!! There is always paper and cards that are needed. I would just stock up! Fun questions.. if only... lol
I'm thinking that there are a lot of dies that I would like to have for my Big
Shot, and dies are pretty pricey. Still, with that kind of money, I think I would get caught up pretty quickly with what I really wanted.
I could so do it. When I was working all the time there for a while it seemed like I was spending about 100 a week on it then and was sometimes having problems shutting it down at that. I purchased a lot of alphabet dies, cricut carts, and tools and wish I could still purchase them. Now that I'm not working and my husband has very little work sometimes too...I have had to cut way back and don't like it but it's just a part of life that has to be done. But I could definitely spend the 150 a week and then some most of the time.
I'd need a sugar daddy to afford this. Or win the lottery, oh yea, you gotta play the lottery to win. sheesh! ;) I think I could do this for a while, but I think that after a while, I would run out of stuff that I had to have. But if I could split this up into all the other hobbies.........

After the first month or so, it would take away half the fun of shopping! A big part of the enjoyment I get from shopping for my stamping stuff is comparing this stamp set to that, this company to that, which will I use more, which is the better bargain.
That's the way I am -- I l-o-v-e laboring over the catalogs and web sites trying to see what I'm going to buy with my budgeted money next month. That's the fun of it (should I tell you I still haven't torn into my new in-color markers, ribbon and paper????) ;>)
I'm at the point right now where I have everything and am not constantly running out - paper, glue, ribbon. I also have enough stamp sets that I don't use some of them very often. I think I have about 15-20 current sets (as a SU demo!) I don't want to get to the point where I have stuff I don't use!
It would be fun to spend that kind of money for a few months, but after that I think the joy would be all gone! Sometimes getting everything you want, isn't actually what you want!

A few years ago, it might have been easy, but I have so much stuff now that I doubt I could maintain that pace for long. I still have a set of Copics Ciaos to buy and the refills, then want to fill in with Sketch in the colors I still need. There are also just a few Nesties that I still want.
I rarely buy new stamps (except for PB Critters!) unless the image is really wonderful.....I prefer to buy digital images, because there are no storage issues and they are so much cheaper.

Because I was offerered a tiny job, a couple hours a day that would equal out to $150 a week, I was talking with my DH and wondering aloud if I could spend that much per week and not run out of things to buy. If you would still have some free time to stamp I would probably go for it. There is always new things coming out each month so you could always find something stamp related to spend your money on.
You start out needing everything....then you tend to realize what you're really going to need and what you enjoy the most. Your budget dollars will be more focused over time, but how much you spend may or may not change. For instance, in the beginning I needed the basics like paper, glue and ink -- so I was buying a lot of things for $100 - later I was buying materials and equipment - lower quantity of items for the same $100. So it depends - everyone is slightly different. I think scrapbookers spend differently than card makers etc.
I sure would give it the good ol American try! I would have to expand my scrapping room. I have so much that I am having trouble storing everything. It's great to have my little home within my home.
I would assume that if I had that much to spend on stamping, everything else would be in place (life's necessities, furniture, bills, storage, etc.), so #@!! YEAH, I could do it. Even though I have the basics (inks, tools, etc.) and enough cs/paper to last me for awhile, there are TONS of things still out there.
I agree with you! Everything else in place first, then I could spend that (as extra money) for a LONG time!! :mrgreen: I have basics, but I'd love to expand my ink selection. And I am just finding out about Nestabilities!! (I don't own any yet, but I've seen what they can do!! Or rather what a creative crafter can do with them!)
I would probably have to build a new craft 'house' in our backyard though since my half of the office already isn't enough room!! :rolleyes: OK, I better stop thinking about this because I'm drooling all over the computer!!

That is a thought provoking comment. It can hold true in so many ways.
I'm assuming that the OP has everything in place as far as life's necessities go, but was looking for some extra money to spend on the hobby. I think it would be fun to take that $150 a week and open a bank account where only that money goes. Spend it as you will on stamp stuff, but see what you haven't spent at the end of the year. Could you go on a vacation? Put it towards the kids college account? Believe me; there is never enough money for that. That would keep you thinking about each purchase.
I, too, love looking for a bargain, whether it's at Macy's or Michael's or Stampin Up. I have two kids in college, so that keeps me conscious of what I spend. Still, I think that when the college bills are paid, I am going to love spending more money on my hobby.

Sounds like a great opportunity -- minimal time investment and enough money to support your hobby. Of course, when you feel like you have all you need, you can save your pay for . . . anything else!! . . . . and be able to purchase stamping stuff whenever you want. I wouldn't worry about running out of things to buy ~ you may hit a dry spell in your stamp spending, but you can always use the money for other things .
My first thought was I sure would like to give it a try. $150 is more than I have spent in a year.
My second thought was if I could use some of it for stamps.(And I don't mean the fun kind, the necessary kind to get them mailed.) Most of my expense the past few months has been in postage. I send a lot of cards out and most of my cards are bumpy... you know where I am going. $$$$$
My third thought was I would have fun playing with the toys and then I would have even more fun finding someone on SCS or an the local schools to give stamping supplies.
remember the movie "Brewster's Millions"? LOL Richard Pryor had to spend tons and tons of money in a certain timeframe to inherit a fortune. He couldn't give the $ away, he had to actually spend it.
I could spend that much in a month if I could give some of it away. Figure I would buy a few of each of whatever and go to the senior center and teach a cardmaking or scrapbooking class. Then off to the teen community center, same deal.... i don't really like little kids but my mom does, so I'd get her space and supplies for a class.
I don't really have the room to store $600 of stuff a month. And i like to share arts and crafts with people (partly because i like when people teach me LOL). Oh, and I belong to a scrapbooking club in Manhattan, and Cheryl generously donates her office and tools for free crop nights... I would give Cheryl a new Cricut, because hey, who can't use a 2nd cutter in a room full of 30 crafters. LOL
Its fun thinking about this. I know I would have to buy/ rent a space to store my stuff (LOL I would be stamping out of a storage cube in the U-Store-It)

For me, the job thing would depend on a lot of other things. I am mostly a stay at home mom and so my time alone is very precious to me. It would be great to have an additional $150 a week but I would really have to want to do the small job to make it worth it. Otherwise, I would be happier spending less and having more time to myself. On the other hand, if it is only a couple hours a day that comes to about $15 per hour which is a great wage in this economy. Perhaps it would blossom into something more if that is what you want. (That's the old HR person in me coming out). No one says you have to spend the entire $$ on stamping stuff (also, I presume you will have to pay income taxes on it). Good luck with your decision. Oh! One other thought - I have found that every single time I have made a decision based on money, it was absolutely the wrong thing for me and my family. Definitely follow your heart.

That is my dream job and I hope to have one just like it soon. I need $100 per week for me and $50 to put into my son's account for walking around money at school. His job at school is part of the financial aid package and doesn't add to his own pocket. Take it! If it doesn't work out with your other activities, family things, etc. you could quit. Good luck!

umm.. i have almost run out of things to buy because I have run out of places to put it.. it's the saddest predicament ever!!!! haha.. I have a fair-sized area to craft in, it's just that I like my stuff around me, otherwise I won't use it. So if I have my patterned paper in my paper racks (which I do) I won't use it because it's not RIGHT THERE. pathetic, I know. So I have tonnes of stuff in my room that I must use before I start buying more stuff....

WOW! Love this question! I could find enough stuff to spend like that but, as many had listed, finding the space and the time to play with it would be hard. BUT I think I could manage....
