Default How to effectively clean ...

stampin up cartridges? I have a terrible time getting them clean, and also, what color ink besides black do you think is worth buying for them? I have twirl swirtl, the baby firsts, ruff day and some others....thank you for your advice!

I'm wondering if you're asking how to clean the wheel rather than the ink cartridges ('cause you really don't clean the ink cartridge).;) After using the wheel, I disengage the cartridge so that it's no longer inking the wheel, and roll it several times on scrap paper to get the excess ink off of it. Then, some wheels clean very well by rolling on the stampin' scrub, others I take off the handle and simply wash off in the sink. If you're using black ink it will stain the rubber, but after it's clean won't transfer to your next project.

As far as colors of ink, you could try brown for the dog wheel and maybe pink or blue for the baby wheel. If you have a variety of stamp pads, you could try running the wheel across the ink pad (it will cover a 1/4 sheet of cardstock) to see what colors you like and use the most w/ it, then if you use a certain color a lot, order the ink cartridge in that color.

Ditto the sink idea. I used jumbo wheels to make wrapping paper this Christmas, and rinsing them off in the sink while the ink was still fresh worked much better than using the Stampin' Scrub.

I usually roll them across a scrap piece of paper to get most of the ink off, then use the Stamp & Scrub to clean them. Or, I lay a baby wipe down on my work surface and roll the wheel across that several times. Don't forget to tilt the wheel on its edge somewhat to get the ink that has accumulated there. I always have a lot more on the edges than it may seem.

Sometimes I find that the stampin' Mist won't get black out of my wheels, but windex does.
