Ok, myabe that isn't the right way to phrase it- lol! When you use dark cardstock, do you then insert another pieece of lighter paper inside the either stamp or write your seniment/message?
I don't ever use dark cardstock for the card base. I always use white or ivory and cut the darker layer 1/8" narrower width wise and lengthwise and adhere that to my light base. Saves you a lot of colored cardstock which is generally more expensive than the white or ivory!
I rarely use a dark card base any more but when I do I use a lighter cardstock or dp inside to stamp my message on. Sometimes I stamp coordinating images inside (if I have time--LOL!)
All of my cards no matter what colour have an insert. I think it gives a more finished to the card and I always recieve comments about it from non card makers.

I line all of my cards, regardless of color, with an insert a tad smaller than the card so the color shows as a border and the corners of the insert trimmed with the ticket corner punch. I love the way it looks!
I always add a layer of white or vanilla cardstock to the inside of all my cards unless I'm using white or vanilla as a base card. I think the extra layer gives the card a more finished look.
A Lighter shade of the same base color of cardstock as an insert, or I write in a lighter color of ink. I do more writing of sentiments than stamping though.

Me, too. I only make "card fronts" from colored or pattern paper, and then adhere them to the card cut from white cardstock.
If you use brads, etc. for embellishment, the prongs will be hidden with this method also. Same with ribbon if you have taped it to the back of the card front.
