I currently store my SU paper scraps in an ArtBin, but it is full. I am wondering how you store them - all in one pile (my current system), by color, etc. Also, what do you store them in?
I HOARD my SU scraps and always try to use them rather than cutting a new, perfectly fresh piece of CS! Just trying to get some ideas. I have the 8.5 x 11 CS and then of course my 12x12 DP's.
My scrapbooking stuff (other manufacturers) has it's own system - which I love!
Thanks!

I use a plastic container that holds legal size hanging folders which hold my scraps alphabetical by the basic color groups. It works okay but am always looking for better ideas.

I have a plastic set of drawers, small scraps in one drawer and half and quarter sheets in another...Ive been thinking of putting them in hanging file folders as well....I rarely use my scraps but keep the smallest ones! Looking forward to hearing the ideas on here!
I keep my SU cardstock in hanging files in open, milk crate type baskets. When I have a scrap leftover, I put it back in the same folder. That way, next time I need just a piece of a particular color, I know right where to look for it. This has saved me from cutting up whole sheets when I have big enough pieces that can be used.
Now my scrap patterned paper... that's another story. I started storing it in bins by color family (like all reds together...) but it became a jumbled mess and I ended up crinkling /ruining more paper looking for something than I was with saving it. So now, I try to be more careful when I use pp so I don't have scraps. And then I try to be brutal when it comes to saving them. If it's not at least 2" square it goes in the recycling bin.
they are wood magazine holders from IKEA. I bought them about 8 years ago when I lived in Germany and decided they'd be good since I'd decoupaged them so they're nice to look at and don't take up a ton of space. I have individual holders for non-SU patterned paper, non-SU solid CS, SU In Color CS, SU CS, and SU patterned paper. It's large enough to hold big pieces and even though small ones are at the bottom it's easy to look through too.
I store my scraps in the accordion folder from Creative memories. It's sorted by color (ROYGBIV, etc). I love it, but it can really get heavy and bulky after awhile. (I also put patterned paper scraps in there according to the dominant color of the paper)
I store my scraps in the front of my same-color cardstock, just as peebsmama mentioned. I use primarily 12x12 c/s, and store it all in 14x14 ziploc style bags stacked vertically in a large plastic tote. I have enough that they don't sag/bend. All scraps go back in the same bag, just in the front, so I can easily see if there is a scrap piece the size I need, before I cut into a full sheet.
Designer paper - I use primarily SU and keep them together by name and store the scraps in the front of that bag, too.

I do mine the same as peebsmama for the SU cs, other card stock I have another crate with folders for color families. This works great for me, especially when my grandchildren visit and want to make cards, they know they can use that crate of cs. Now my printed paper is something else again, still trying to come up with a workable system for storing the scraps.
I use those plastic storage drawers that are available for a great price. I store by colour, though I have metallics together and yellow and orange too as not used alot. The drawers are just a bit bigger than A4, so not too huge for items to get lost, but big enough to be useful.
I tried various other ways, folders etc but unless easily to hand, I don't use them and folders etc aren't kind to paper/card anyway. All in a big box was useless, I NEVER could be bothered to have a big search for a tiny bit of pink paper.Searching through would damage things anyway I found.
This works well for me. Actually, I've been amazed how well it works. I rarely break into a whole A4/12" piece of card/paper, other than for a card base. Basically everything under A4 goes into the drawer and with a pink drawer, i can see EVERY pink bit I've got and I've actually had great fun finding what lovely, but small, pieces of paer and card I have!!
I've always saved the bits, I don't like to waste, but if it's not used it's wasted frankly.
By the way, this system came into operation only a couple of months ago, maybe 6 weeks after years of system after system. It's taken me ages to get this far but it's so good, I feel stupid for not thinking of it before!!
I store my scraps in Iris mini carts. Each cart has 6 drawers and I have 3 carts. They used to store my stamps until my collection became to large.
My scraps are stored by hues (reds, green, yellow, metallic, etc.) I used to save all my scraps, but I wasn't using the smallest ones. Now I only store pieces that are at least 2" square. Before I cut a full sheet, I check the scrap drawer and sometimes I have my own little challenge to make cards with nothing but scraps (excluding the card base).
I store mine in hanging folders. Each color has it's own acid free file folder. They are arranged by color family.
These are in a cube with an open top, no drawer to open and close. This is right between my tables and I can easily find scraps. This helps me use them.
I put my cardstock scraps in ZipLoc bags by color and keep them in
hanging folders in a cart. So easy and quick to find the color
I need. I keep my scrap patterned papers in a plastic drawer.

I use an Iris type cart with 6 draws each labeled with a color, I have an additional one with my patterned paper, chipboard, and neutrals. I love that they are wheels so I can just pull it out from under my table when I need it then push it back when I am done.
