I have two "Handmade by" custom stamps: the first one (rubber) was made by an Etsy seller who is unfortunately no longer in business, and the second (photopolymer) was made by an ebay seller. I have two so I can match them to the cards or project I'm making (one is 1" round, the other 2" round).
I'm a lifetime snowflake ornament collector, so my "signature" is a small 3/8 inch snowflake stamped in Brilliance Starlight silver ink, a Sakura Gelly roll Stardust clear dot on the end of each flake "branch", and in the center, then hand signed in black ink underneath, my first name. For my shows I don't date them, for personal use I do.
I too have ordered several times from this ebay seller. The price was reasonable, they worked with me on the design and I got my stamps quickly. They come unmounted or attached to a plastic mount handle. I got several as gifts and some for myself over the year. The stamps have held up well and I would recommend.

I have used a stamp of some kind for "signing" my cards. Just recently my last custom stamp had a piece break off and so I just put my signature and date on the card I was working on. It hit me then that I would continue to do that from now on---more like what artists do on paintings---as I found it easier than the stamping process.
I have three personalized stamps with a design. Two say "created by," one with my full name, one just my first name and initial of my last name. And one has my initials and a funky little bird. There are quite a few shops on Etsy and elsewhere that do custom stamps.
However, I often forget to stamp the back, and either leave them blank or write my name and month/year if I suddenly remember when they're going out the door. : )
