Out With It Ladies,
Tell me your secrets; How do you manage to do all you do.
We are busy women with DH, DD, DS, houses, jobs, outside
family, social activities. So how do you manage to do a
challenge every day?
LOL, I am driving myself nuts just trying to keep up on viewing
your projects, checking all of the replies. It's time to share the
secret..........;)
Do people actually do these every day?? hahahaha, I don't stalk daily, though I enjoy seeing them and reading thru the threads. I do sometimes get to make one or more but then it takes me a year to ever put it in the gallery. LOL I understand your feeling, I homeschool 4 kids, keep a house, volunteer and take only 1 college class. I feel like I barely keep my head above water most of the time.
Jodi
PS Do you get social activites? I thought those were just for kids. <scratching head> My social life is here on this forum. LOL
I'd like to know the secret too. By the time I get home from working 9 hours then cook dinner, grocery shop, laundry, etc. I maybe stamp twice a month. I keep saying when I retire, I'll do the challanges.

I find while being a student I have lots of time to stamp. I may be in classes 35 hours a week, and working another 20... but I stamp whenever I should be studying ;). Procrastination at its finest. Although.. i never do get them uploaded to my gallery... i should work on that.
I don't do them daily but I have learned no matter how busy you think you are you need to take at least 30 min to 1 hour to yourself and do soemthing you enjoy! Stamp, read a magazine, take a bath, whatever. The house won't break if the dishes aren't done till the next day, you won't fail it the paper isn't done till the next day, etc. If ya don't you will go insane!
I go in spurts... I might just clean, clean, clean all week and never touch a stamp (always check SCS at night when i'm getting baby to sleep ;)) and then i might just stamp, stamp, stamp and not clean... naw, but I can wish! lol Sometimes i do do the challenges all week long (like to combine them) sometimes I don't. Besides having two in school, two at home, a hubby that may work from home or go into the 'office', story time once a week (sometiems two) at our library, PTO meetings, Demo camp, I also sew for my kids and once in a while decorate cakes! Plus cook and clean for the fam. Whew, i'm tired just writing all this, think i'll take a nap! ;)
Seriously, I have to take some time out for myself like Aubrey said. If I didn't, i think i'd go crazy! Right now I have an hour between dd#1 getting off to school and dd#2 getting up so i'm trying (notice trying) to do a card during that time IF the challenge is up.
I am able to get a card made FOR SURE when my youngest daughter naps in the afternoon, she's almost 2. My oldest, 3 1/2 draws or colors with me in my craft room while I make a challenge card.
Then after they go to bed at 7:30 I take care of the rest of my chores from 7:30-8 everyday and then stamp for another half hour or hour.
On the weekends I write crafting on my to do list and make sure that I set aside about 2 hours on each day to work on my projects.
You just have to be super organized and not budge that it's something you want to do. Plus I dont watch tv during the week, TiVo takes care of it all for me. I watch tv on the weekends. So that free's up a lot of time that I used to spend doing nothing so I can create.
I just don't clean my house... it gives me lots of time each day!
See my sig. ;)
I only have 1 kid (and one on the way) and NO job...and a pretty helpful husband...but still feel like I can BARELY manage to get some projects finished.
I find if I LEAVE my house to do a project...I do it more quickly, efficiently...and it is often even FINISHED before I go home. There are just too many distrations at home.

This is why I have never done a challenge! I just dont have time! Maybe in my next life!
You know the challenges don't have to be done right away. Sometimes I can start a challenge card but it just doesn't come together so I let it lay for a few days. Right now when I make a card, i'm trying to go back and do the sketch challenge cards that I never did (at least it gives me a start). A challenge is just that a challenge.. not a race or anything. hmmmmm it's a challenge to do housework... does that work?? lol

Yeah, don't kid yourself. I "retired" and now I'm watching my grandson for 8 to 10 hours a day. Do women ever really retire?

AHHHHHHH,
Thank you so much ladies. I haven't had a good laugh in such a long time. Just what I needed. And there were also some good tips. And NO women do not retire, they just get busier.
I let my dog do the dishes, she gets them cleaner than the dishwasher LOLOLOLOL. I have no kids under 19 and 2 of them still at home, so when they won't help I don't tell them Katie (dog) washed their plates. OH MY I am having way to much fun here. You are all great.
I am so please to find a group with such a great sense of humor. Thanks for your "time"....Warmly,
Debi
I fortunately have older children that are in school all day long, and whne they get home I make them clean the house! JK. I have less to clean as they are older children and in school. So I have from 8am till 3pm to basically do as I please and once again they do like to go outside or watch movies, etc...(they are 7 and 10) a lot easier and I have no husband to clean up after!;)
The secret? The 100,000 or so of us do a fabulous job of getting about three houses worth of cooking, cleaning, and stamping done each day - combined! The other 999,997 of us are sitting here in front of SCS.

Yeah, I can't do arithmetic in the middle of the night. Make that 99,997...
(Sheesh, they're gonna take away my math degree if I keep that up.)
I am retired, or so i thought so. But everyone found out! I am so busy doing things for others(but that is a good thing). I miss doing the sketch challenge and some of the others. I have been busy making halloween toppers(80) and frapp bottles( for the grandchildren. I am making photo cards for some of our friends for christmas(we went to Alaska). I thought that would be a neat idea. Right now i am working on our photo album from our trip.I love some of your christmas ideas! Big help! So i am subscribing to this thread.
1) cleaning lady comes every 2 weeks, I spot clean for the duration.
2) I don't sleep
3) pre-school has my kids 9 hours a week
4) they sleep 11 hours a day
5) for the reamining 82 hours, there is duct tape
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays (as far as weekdays go) the challenges are usually posted late the night before so I'm able to do those in the morning. My kids leave for school at 7:00 a.m. but I don't have to be at work until 9:30 so that's my little stamping time. Then, I'm fortunate enough to have the best job in the world (I manage a stamping store!) so I do spend a little time on SCS while I'm working and try to do my share of commenting to compensate for the comments I receive. My days don't always go as planned though, but I try. I too think that you just have to make that little bit of time for yourself. I don't really worry if my house isn't spotless, etc. As long as everyone is happy, including Mom!
I gave up cleaning for once a year. And that year has pasted, so now my MIL is cleaning my kitchen drawers out. That's enough cleaning for another year! I gotta stamp!!! Oh and my DH has learned to pick up take out on th way home from work if I have deadlines! Very handy thing, those drive-ins!
I think I average only 2 or 3 challenges per year (sad, but true).
Work all day, family & church things during the evenings, yard work and errands on weekends (housework doesn't get done though). By the time I get a couple hours on the weekend to stamp, the everyone has already moved on to the next challenge. I love seeing what everyone else comes up with though.
