I've found that whenever I receive a new stamp and try it out for the first couple of times, there is some kind of a "film" on it and the ink doesn't take well to some spots. Could someone please recommend to me how to "clean" them before stampin with them for the first time? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
SU! recommends rubbing the bolder stamps (the ones with large areas of flat rubber) across a towel to get rid of that new stamp "sheen" left over from the manufacturing proces. I guess you could also pre-clean them, like you do with new linens.

I find that cleaning them before I use them always does the trick. I just use the stampin' mist and scrub pads. It works just fine. I also do this if I haven't used the stamps in a while. I always seem to get a better image if I clean the stamps right before I use them.
take some fine grain sand paper and lightly sand over the top of the image. then use your stamp and scrub to treat the rubber.
if the image is still funky, try this again. should help!
